It's pointless garbage. As are most "reality" TV shows.

But some people seem to enjoy the notion of watching a bunch of strangers getting together in a semi-scripted environment in the hopes of getting sticky at some point.

It's like going to a bar to pick up. The only differences being its subjects talking shit publicly, on camera, in well-lit settings, with the hopes of gaining a second date, as opposed to a bar, where you talk shit intimately, with intentional anonymity, in a dark place, with the hope of f*cking once and never having to see that person again.

It's utter shit. Says a lot about Australian TV at the moment with viewer numbers getting less and less each year and who can blame them when this garbage is churned out. I think it's getting to the point where most people have had enough of rubbish reality TV shows such as this and the plethora of other options which are paraded across the channels year after year.

The fact that something like this is created let alone watched by people is embarrassing.

Shit product, but market it to buggery in every possible form of media - even if subtly (eg. discussing it on commercial radio; have articles about it in The Age; etc; etc) and the masses will come.

Though by the sound of it even the mass saturation marketing to the "lowest common denominators" of society is not working and this may even be too "simple" for them. Hopefully McDonalds can one day suffer the same fate.

My wife who is a psychologist likes to watch it (like a lot of reality TV really) because she enjoys watching the people slowly deteriorate mentally over time. She's got an amazing ability to predict which girls/contestants will break pretty early on.

She's a pretty scary woman now that I think about it...
