Team vs Union

-------------------------Kelleher----------------------

Trent---------Jogo--------Matip---------Kostas

Elliott-------------Grav------------Curtis

Mo---------------Darwin-----------Jota

Ali
Virg
Konate
Robbo
Quansah
Mac
Endo
Soz
Diaz
Doak

Bajcetic / Thiago still unavailable I assume.

Get Mo on for the first half, get the game won and take him off at half time for Doak.

Firstly for tomorrow, anyone who played the full 90 v Tottenham doesn't start: Matip, VVD, Szob, Robbo (and Alisson).

Jota and Jones should start as they won't play v Brighton.

So I would go with:

Kelleher - Trent - Quansah - Konate - Kostas - Endo - Gravenberch - Jones - Eliiott - Nunez - Doak

Bench: Alisson, Jaros, Gomez, VVD, Matip, Robbo, Mac Allister, Szob, Salah, Diaz, and two more academy midfielders.

What happened to Jots? :D

He escaped my mind momentarily. Jota in the starting XI, Elliott to the bench.
Leave Elliott in the XI and bench Nunez. He had strapping on his knee at yesterday's training session. It's the same issue that kept him out of the game against Spurs. Need to keep him in cotton wool for Brighton.

That means Diaz has to play because Gakpo's out.

Should really be 3-0 as Salah usually gobbles those ones up that was saved and Nunez has missed an absolute sitter.

Really comfortable half. I'd expect more goals in the second half.

What a boring game. First 20 minutes was great, looked like we gonna score about 8 goals. Then from about 20 minutes to full time it was like a labouring performance. Slogged through it, got the result, move on.

Big game now away to Brighton, it's a must win to head into another stupid international break still right in the thick of the title race.

Klopp post match confirmed all the half time subs were pre-planned, which suggests Endo starts at Brighton.

We've found one in Quansah

Yeah thought this. Gonna be a Endo / Mac / Soz mid which I believe is a good balance.

Villa's tactics were interesting vs Brighton. Instead of pressing them right up the top they stood off them and let them have the ball in the middle of the park. Once they fed the ball wide that's when Villa pounced. And that proved quite successful. Only thing with Darwin is his pressing defensive game is not the best. He will need to sit back and wait for the right time to press instead of just running around crazily.

You never know - we may get Thiago back after the international break!

Unless Jurg meant he was returning after the international break in March lol.
