Under the table, deals were made only to be reneged on and the items given back, but we lost our arrangement,” Liam said.

What does this mean?

I took it as deals were made with S&A that weren’t meet
Often builders and workers and offered products/furniture in the house as payment instead of money when the budget runs out

I would presume they were offered things and then S&A reneged on these things when it was time to pay up. From what I've been told it's done every year when budgets are thin and arrangements are made for them to work longer hours without the money to spend.

They won the leaderboard domain challenge so I think they will pick themselves to go up first and it’ll be out of them and the boys for the win imo
Yeah can't see anyone else winning tbh. They'll put the boys last I think

I usually avoid this sort of show but I'm on acres so I thought I would watch the last episode to see what they did with the properties. After I skipped past the ad breaks, program content that was really product placement, and cute couples talking to the camera - there was only about 20 minutes in a 2 hour show where the judges talked you through was worked and what didn't.

Because it's a prime time TV show they want to create drama by imposing an artificially tight deadline. More realistically you might take a year or two to plan then get the work done.

The auctions will be interesting. I would like to see the full disclosure of the costs without all the company sponsorship deals. There's probably a 10% premium on the sale prices just because they have been featured on the show.

It's safe to say that none of what happens on The Block mirrors how houses and landscapes are really built.

If I had to buy one of these, it’s be 1 or 5. Because they are the best houses but also have the benefit of not having a neighbour on both sides. These places don’t feel like they are on 10 acres, when they are on top of each other.

Would it have killed the producers to push the allotted construction time out to 20 weeks? Still run the show on tv over 12, but have some, especially the landscaping, contested over 2 or more weeks.

Feels like it’s really hurt it’s brand this year, with the shoddiness of the work and how uncompleted they were. Some of the elements of the landscaping were shithouse, not because the landscapers were no good but it was virtually impossible in the time.

However, why on earth would anyone put grass directly around a pool? Enjoy all the shit that ends up in your pool everytime you mow and off peoples feet everytime they jump in.

Right now, I’m praying to baby Jesus that H3 makes no money because the melts will be nuclear.

Agree with all that, ESPECIALLY re. grass around the pool. Is disgusting and looks cheap af.

It's ok... They've got robot lawnmowers!!! 'Cos that is exactly what you need when you're on acreage

I know the Block is built off plugging sponsors products, and in general they are pretty useful (e.g. VLux, smart house technology etc.) but this one genuinely made me laugh.

Would love to know what the full cost of the Red Earth off-grid solutions are per house. Given the size of those houses and the lack of decent sunlight in the winter, those battery packs will need to carry a huge amount of storage.

Anyone else notice that Darren made a big deal about H2’s lack of railing on the deck but didn’t mention it at all for H4?
H2 was looking directly at the swing and had massive rocks as part of the landscaping right there. It was pretty much asking for trouble from a child and really adults too as you weren't just going to fall onto grass.

H4 now has railing on their decks (glass, which looks awesome). It just wasn't completed for that show because of supply shortages and time. They have videos on the Domain site showing each house inside and out where you can see it. The only thing I didn't see was steps from their deck to their yard, which means you still have to walk around the long way to go into the yards.

It's quite possible Darren knew the reasons for the lack of railing then on H4, whereas H2 never planned to have railing. I think they still don't. That's why he never mentioned it at H4, and made a thing about it at H2.

I’m a broke ass single guy, so I’m not quite the target market…

But I think if I were to step back and consider functionality, house 5 would be my winner. The bathroom with the bench seat, the $250k in appliances, the pool, the little golf course. I don’t think it’s externally as beautiful as 2-3 others, but it’s the value pick if they’re all going within a few 100k of each other.

To look at the listings, their outdoor living areas also turned out amazing. Tbh I think it’s the only one I’d consider buying, the others probably prioritise beauty over functionality. I’m not paying millions for a pool I can’t swim in.

I don’t understand double showers. I don’t want to watch someone wash.

And the first thing I’d do to any of those places is get rid of the tacky AF elk horn light fixtures that permeated across a few properties.
