I am a bit cynical about these 'charity' houses they do on the show. They get criticized for building multi-million dollar homes when there is a housing shortage and so do these challenge houses as a way of deflecting from that. But they did a great job on the challenge house, and I thought the show went out of its way to promote the local businesses that donated goods and labor.

Think it’s done for PR and a tax wrote off for channel 9

A team's Living & Dining room is disqualified on the Sunday night judging, and I'm betting it's Oz & Omar for the cheating stuff we've been talking about for a few weeks. I thought it odd how they made a big deal of it last week but yet no mention this week.
I wonder if it's about the piano and getting it for 8k or 25% rather than paying at least 50% which I think is a block rule.

But who knows.

Thought the same thing.

Scottie is also looking in their direction, and I can't see it being Dylan and Jenny.

Yes, that could be the reason too. IIRC Sharon brought that mirror for $100 for the challenge, and its price was over $800. I thought that was against the rules then, but no one seemed to care. But a baby grand worth 35K for 8K is a bit much.

Their mirror wasn't also in their kitchen. What a joke.

It was - they took the base off it and put it in the butlers pantry.

Whats with House 2 been judged so harshly all season, why do the judges always have someone they hate and mark down from said hate week after week. The hate seems totally unjustified
Their kitchen was pretty average can't really blame the judges there tbh.

Both of them I just cannot stand them

Irritating
Ankur always looks like he has no idea lol.

Sharon always looks defeated by any criticism, needs to toughen up
I agree, the judges can be real dicks at times though (see Dylan and Jenny), and it must feel like sometimes you can't win whatever you do.

All of those brick features looked so 90s. The stone ones looked much, much better.

Number 2 a clear winner. Crazy how number 4 managed to make their room look so tiny.

Even crazier that they all spent almost twice the weekly budget. Where's the money coming from?

Reckon Toms was the best this week, floor to ceiling windows, views as far as the eye can see, who cares about the styling. Apparently it is their redo room too. No idea why.

Once again the producers had to add some drama and make the scoring close so they gave the boys high scores because they knew they were getting votes deducted. No way they deserved 9 and a halves. Their living doesn’t go with their ultra modern kitchen, a brick fireplace??? They had no natural light either or views of the landscape.

The judges are told how to react and how to vote. It’s all rigged.

Their choice of furniture seemed pretty bad. Didn't suit the size of the room when you compare it to Rachel and Ryan who nailed it. Wasn't it Shaz and Ankur that got told theirs was a redo not house 1? Unless I missed that

It’s all decorative though. Tim’s is the only living room that flowed from the kitchen. Rachel’s couch that they were creaming over is shit. Where do you rest your head when you sit down? The judges are just helping out teams that havent won as they are struggling mentally.

The boys room was also cluttered. The dining table right next to the couch, then a piano on the other side just taking up space in a small room to start with. Notice the judges had haddly anything nice to say about the room yet they got 9 and a halves. All about creating drama every week.

Then you Neale suggesting one couple have a rug under their dining table…..blows your mind some of the ridiculous things they say. Time for some new judges with honest opinions.

Tom and Sarah Jane redo their living room. Straight from the horses mouth.

Piano definitely overated. Even if I got that for free I wouldn't want it. Takes up so much space for something that would never get used.

That refurbished 14yo piano comment was a lie. Looking them up, they sell for up to $5000. The brand new latest model is 36K. These guys are so dodgy.

House 2 was the best this week.
Are you saying what they put in is a new one?

I don't see how a piano retailer that got no advertising out of it would sell them a 36kn piano for 7.5k. It's all very odd.

The inference all last week was they were getting a brand new one on the cheap. It was only last night that they tried to claim it was a 14yo refurbished model, not when Scotty questioned them about it but as an aside to one of the other contestants after the penalty was handed out. As it is, if they paid 7.5G for a 14yo refurbished model, then they probably overpaid. It just doesn't add up.
