That's an issue with playing Fisher higher up the ground. He is horrible at the last kick into F50.

Above is where stats can be misleading or when another stat makes a lie of the first stat to judge a player. If we select score involvements then Fisher averages more than Owies, Durdin and Martin and suggests his inside 50 kicks may be better than you think given he runs up the ground.

From eye test, Fisher tends to bang it on top of the big forwards heads rather than the space in front of them.

Maybe I just notice the misses more.

I know I always cringe when he's got the ball 60-70m out.

Edit: score involvements means he was involved in the chain of possession that led to the score, rather than direct assists. The last kick inside 50 to a forward is where we often turn it over. For this reason I think goal assists is an important stat to consider.

Out of interest and for context on Fisher, where do you see Cripps 60-70 metres out?

Last Sunday I think Fisher had been given some very specific instruction. We did not see the myriad of pathetic, unnecessary jinking “runs” when he has clear possession and feels compelled to try to step the man on the mark for some reason known only to himself rather than taking a safe option to find the next link in the chain. That element was finally and noticeably absent. Please more of the same.

For the first time in a couple of years (since his “starring” AFL-X performance) I actually believe he can become an integral part of the team. Had just about given up previously.

About the same, unless he is on the run and going to have a shot.

Too many of our guys get sucked into kicking it at Harry, even when there are better options.

Even when kicking to H it's at him rather than to him. Just putting it in the vicinity rather than to his advantage.

If Harry and Charlie are getting double teamed someone else has to be free.

Got an email from the club with the subject PUMA FRIENDS AND FAMILY SALE

I've got quite a few family members I'd like to sell, but I don't expect I'd get much for them...

I got the same email and then it disappeared. I’ve looked everywhere for it and it’s just gone. Weirdest ****ing thing lol

I was looking at the fixture of our next few games and realised we're playing on Mother's Day.

I know it's not the biggest deal but it's pretty rough that we've copped the Easter Sunday game and are playing on Mother's day (and at 4:40).

We weren't that bad last year, either the AFL doesn't like us or they know our games will pull a decent crowd regardless of what's going on.

That’s what you get for being pathetic last year.
If you’re fixtured to play on Mothers Day then the 4.40 slot is not too bad, get the old duck done at lunch and then off to the footy

Considering carlton helped him out drafting him because of his bad habits getting himself in the shitter
Yea right
Next

The only time I ever saw him in a Carlton tracksuit was at about 10.30 - 11pm one Friday night "when he was injured" asleep holding an empty grog bottle sitting on the ground outside the old Metro nightclub. Head back against the wall snoring & all. Security just left him sitting there too

I see that Caro had something to say on Liam Jones. What was it? Could he return mid season?

It will take him at least 2 months to get anywhere near AFL fitness levels. He was supremely fit after revitalizing his career, can't see him playing properly even if it happens until next year.

It wouldn’t even be fair on the players who have done a full pre-season and playing AFL and VFL games.

eh? so local players shouldn't get a gig in the mid-season draft because players who have completed pre-season are more entitled to games?

jones would have 10+ AFL pre-seasons as a base to work off. unless he has really let himself go he'd be up to speed within weeks.

I guess you are right.

If what Caroline Wilson said is the case about the AFL mandate not changing about being double vaxxed at least for this year, it’s a bit of a moot point if Liam Jones doesn’t get double vaxxed.

What makes you think so?
He's playing footy on the GC at the moment and claimed he was in career best fitness before the season, so he's not exactly sitting on his hands.

Coupled with how amateurs/semi professionals have come in only a few weeks after the mid-season draft an elite athlete like Jones who already knows the AFL system and what's involved in an AFL match would make the transition fairly quickly.

Pretty much certain that Jones will be allowed to play AFL next season. Also pretty much certain based on his comments that Jones will want to play AFL next season.

So question is who wants Jones and where does Jones want to play. If I had to put money on it I would say he would prefer a fresh start on the goldcoast.

And hopefully we get some compensation this time... But what would a then 32 year old player be worth?

Doubt we'll get anything tbh.

I know this isn't American sports, but normally in the US if a player retires with years left on his contract, then a year or 2 later unretires, that teams still owns the players rights. So the only way for them to play for a new team is to be traded.

Is that not the same in the AFL? A player can retire with 2 yrs left, sit out a year, then come back and join any team he likes? Seems like a potential loophole.
