Is it just me or has this show gone down hill?
I remember the days of Simon O'donnell hosting it and it had many player features, proper one on one interviews and a much more professional approach.

Watching it now it seems to be mainly slats and healy having a chat about the days cricket, a KFC cricketer of the day (which is a pretty short brief interview) and then a gatorade cricket tips.

Thoughts?

Simon O'Donnell was absolutely terrible.

"and uhh welcome uhhh back to the uhh... cricket uhhh show.... *long pause* uhhh next up is ahh brett.... lee! *pause* with some tips... uhh"

This is so true. O'Donnell was an awful host.

I heard he will be hosting the Sunday Footy Show this year....surprising considering the hate on here.

Agree. Back in it's first few years most of the show was pre- recorded, and was an actual "cricket show". As the opening post said, nowadays they just waffle on about the days play, Brett Lee comes on and gives us nothing, and they all joke around telling us how good each other were in their day. Load of crap now.

Yes, they used to put a bit of effort in to it, now they simply just fill in time.

Good post - the whole 'masterclass' segments are just boring (how many kids really learn much from it anyway), the rest is just rehashing what has happened and promotions for sponsors. Remember the days they actually mentioned the domestic cricket?

The actual profile segments they did on the players, grounds etc were always very good when they put them together. You really got an insight into the players and thier background.

I love watching Test Cricket, i can sit there all day. When the Cricket Show starts it's time to get off the couch and so something else for 45 minutes.

Need to do a 'Street Talk' segment and interview drunks and derros in the crowd. A 'flash for cash' bit would be an awesome improvement over that 'kiss cam' bullshit they have on now.

Could get a cheese brand as a sponsor and call each bit a 'smegment'. It would be an unbelievably edgy move.

And an 'angry letter of the week' bit as well, about how horribly anti-family The Cricket Show is becoming with their pro-yobbo behaviour and how they should get it back the way it used to be with Simon 'I once played for St Kilda' O'Donnell... safe and boring.

Hey, this is my first post on the cricket board. Wa-hey!!

How about a masterclass in smuggling booze into venues?

At least that would be useful to people contemplating going to a game.

do they search your bags for oranges these days?

There was an urban myth (I assume) about a guy out in Boronia who could make false bottoms into various things for smuggling purposes. A mate swears he's seen an eskie with 'a fiendish' false bottom in it that this genius has constructed.
