Re: St Kilda can't draw BIG crowds at the MCG

And your comment re Collingwood and Essendon when they play on Anzac Day isnt a great comparison either.

A wet friday night draws 58k = respectable at the worst

Location North of Perth

So I'll forgive you for not realising how bad the rain was yesterday and that it was shown live against the gate in Melbourne.

Only 58K, playing top team and can only draw that number....and at the MCG.!!!!

Jealous fool.

Freezing night, pouring with rain and LIVE on TV....

Speaking of the Pies though...when we play them lately MOST of their supposed fans always seem to leave EARLY? Bandwagoners obviously...

Night game + bad weather is the worst mix possible for attendances.

I think if the game had been this afternoon even with the weather not great it would have pushed 70k.

Geelong fans normally find it hard on a friday night as it is without rain or being live against the gate. I took the third v-line back to geelong. It was a 6 carriage velocity and there were litrally 15 people on it. We were the only people in the back three carraiges. Laughed at all the people that ran to the train leaving no more than 5 minutes earlier where countless people had to stand :p

Weather played its part. Non issue.

StKilda dont play pretty football, either, in fact its unwatchable, so they arent likely to attract many neutrals along to their games.

St kilda are quite watchable, it's their opposition who usually aren't

Looked like there were more at the North v Port game the week before.

More? more empty seats perhaps

You missed the point, a game played on a wet day at the mcg always looks like a small crowd, so what that 50 odd thousand turned up?, you couldn't see them, but the North v Port game was under a roof and all the crowd was in the bottom 2 levels, to the untrained eye it 'looked' like there were more, ok.

Weekends crowds, only real standout Magpies and Blues. Surprised at the Tigers poor turnout.
Adel v Rich 19,181
Port v Haw 22,340
Bris v Mel 26,144
WB v NM 28,038
SYD v Gee 30,710
Ess v STK 37,165
Fre v WC 40,451
Car v Coll 76,980

Great to see a bomber fan more interested in the Kanga's than their own team :thumbsu:

Not using the weather as an excuse but it did hail.

North's crowd healthy. Realistically 20k this week against the dockers is a stretch, a win still gives them a chance to kick either Carlton or Sydney out of the 8 with the run home.
