it was pissing down rain for 3 hours before the game and you can understand people not wanting to sit in the rain. 58k is a good effort

StKilda dont play pretty football, either, in fact its unwatchable, so they arent likely to attract many neutrals along to their games.

Night game + bad weather is the worst mix possible for attendances.

I think if the game had been this afternoon even with the weather not great it would have pushed 70k.

Geelong fans normally find it hard on a friday night as it is without rain or being live against the gate. I took the third v-line back to geelong. It was a 6 carriage velocity and there were litrally 15 people on it. We were the only people in the back three carraiges. Laughed at all the people that ran to the train leaving no more than 5 minutes earlier where countless people had to stand

Given all the above factors, 50k last night was a good crowd. Can't complain about that.

You missed the point, a game played on a wet day at the mcg always looks like a small crowd, so what that 50 odd thousand turned up?, you couldn't see them, but the North v Port game was under a roof and all the crowd was in the bottom 2 levels, to the untrained eye it 'looked' like there were more, ok.

It's not just about capacity, Homebush is a lot easier to get to for a lot of people in Sydney. They sell quite a lot of those superpasses just for the Homebush games.

Not using the weather as an excuse but it did hail.

North's crowd healthy. Realistically 20k this week against the dockers is a stretch, a win still gives them a chance to kick either Carlton or Sydney out of the 8 with the run home.
