Haven't seen a thread on this but I think this movie looks very interesting and could be a great film.

I was born under unusual circumstances. And so begins The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, adapted from the 1920s story by F. Scott Fitzgerald about a man who is born in his eighties and ages backwards: a man, like any of us, who is unable to stop time. We follow his story, set in New Orleans from the end of World War I in 1918, into the 21st century, following his journey that is as unusual as any mans life can be. Directed by David Fincher and starring Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett with Taraji P. Henson, Tilda Swinton, Jason Flemyng, Elias Koteas and Julia Ormond, Benjamin Button, is a grand tale of a not-so-ordinary man and the people and places he discovers along the way, the loves he finds, the joys of life and the sadness of death, and what lasts beyond time.

I hope this movie can give Brad Pitt his first Oscar :thumbsu:

There aren't too many films released that really peak my interest but this is one of them.

Brad Pitt is a very underrated actor because of his movie star looks.

I am interested in this movie but at the same time I can see me getting very bored with it, I think it might be the setting. Also is that poster meant to be backwards, like a reference to how Ben 'grows' younger?

I wonder if Karl Pilkington has anything to do with this film lol.
Anyway looks great. As I said in another thread David Fincher + Brad Pitt + Cate Blanchett= Something Special
As I also said in another thread 2009 looks awesome for good films
This one and The Wrestler both coming soon. Later in the year there will be Martin Scorsese's Shutter Island, Terrence Malick's The Tree of Life, Quentin Tarantino's Inglorious Basterds (Also with Pitt in the lead:D), Michael Mann's Public Enemies, Sam Mendes Revelation Road (I think that's the title) with Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet. Plus late in the year the Coen's A Serious Man.

also interested in seeing 'milk', 'the brothers bloom', 'where the wild things are', 'the fantastic mr. fox', 'getting out', 'the limits of control', 'biutiful', and the.... 'untitled 12 year richard linklater project' (gotta wait until 2013 for that one though :p)

My wife has just won a double pass to see it - hopefully she will ask me to go ! A big fan of F Scott Fitzgerald's short stories, but never read this one.

Am really looking forward to this. Certainly wont be going on boxing day but hopefully get to catch it sometime soon.

Yep a movie i'm very intersted in watching in. Brad Pitt's really sky rocketed in my books of his acting ability. This and Slumdog Millionarie I'm interested in watching in. Both possible Oscar hopefuls.

WAS really interested in watching this movie.

However, was on the loo the other day and reading the interview with Blanchett and Piit in my Gf's TV week and guess what: Blanchett gave away the flaming ending in the interview. I sort of guessed that's what might happen but....

If you or a family member have the TV week describing the week of TV beginning sat 20/12/2008 DO NOT read the interview 3/4 of the way through if you don't want to know the ending.

will still watch on dvd, but don't like knowing the ending :(

My post is slightly spoilerish -

My summary: Forrest Gump 2 (complete with tugboat!)

Charming tale of a likeable man who goes through many wonderful adventures in his life - chuck in some references to well known events to leave the audience feeling nostalgic.

I felt there was a lack of direction throughout the whole movie, I'm not sure what Fincher was trying to say and the ending left me somewhat. It was also perhaps 30 min too long, and the scenes with Tilda Swinton were superfluous and could easily be cut without affecting the story at all.

It's an interesting film but I don't think should be challenging for the Best Picture Oscar. However, Brad Pitt is excellent yet again and should be a real contender for Best Actor.

Awesome movie...... but holy hell my butt feels like I've been torn a new one..... 3 hours long it is

the audience reaction was pretty positive, plenty of laughs to go around....

"Did I ever tell you that I was hit by lightning seven times?"

hehehe that never gets old :3

The start was abit wishy washy though..... it wasn't helped by the projectionist stuffing up the beginning of the movie (theatre lights coming on after the advertisements with fm radio music playing rather than the movie audio)...... not sure if there was no opening credits at the start on purpose.....but there was alot of wtfs going on :/

My goodness Brad pitt never looked better in this movie....... in parts he looks EXACTLY the same as his early roles in things like Thelma and Louise....

some cgi trickery going on me thinks.
