What took you so long?
Thought i was quite quick to find it actually! ;)

I was asked who would play forward if Lloyd and Lucas were out.
I provided an answer.

What's your point?
My point is that ur just throwing down names of anybody on ur list who has kicked a goal or two.

B.Holland snagged 8 one day for us, guess he is more than a forward option, he is a forward weapon!

Campbell Brown should never be regarded in the same league as Lucas (Not that you did). A great tough competitior he is, but fair i doubt it, all teams have and will have players of his ilk which is great but dont hold them up as ornaments to the game.

To say you loose respect for Lucas is a cop out and an excuse to make a stupid comment and cause controversy, you never saw Ayers, Platten or Collins all player i regard as great tough hawks drop a mark when under pressure?

John Brown is a great CHF and suited the 2001-04 Lions team perfectly however he plays a different game to Lucas. Scotty has produced repeatedly for the bombers over 10 years and and such deserves some pludits, IMO Lucas is very underrated as a CHF, people always refer to Pav, Brown and Saint Nick whom i believe Lucas should be considered amoungst.

As far as the bombers making top 4, why the hell not? Does it end world peace, create drought or send a black plague? Why shoudln't Essendon (Or Trolls for that matter) supporters think positive, if you dont agree dont read or respond to the thread, FYIW i think we will sneak into 6th-10th with the tired young legs.

Lets hope its a great 2008 and AFL lets the players play.
I agree with what you say in relation to Lucas. He is a terrific player (as I have already said) under rated and consistent deliverer of the goods. I'm not hanging him for being concerned about where C Brown might be, I 'm just saying that I dont regard him as highly as a few of the others, particularly J Brown because of what I saw that day.
It wasn't just a fumble.

Whilst it seems you are a sensible poster I'm somewhat confused by your thoughts of not being able to mention Campbell Brown in same breath as Lucas. Given Brown twice towelled Lucas up last year despite giving away about 15kgs and 15cm and also given his AA selection I think it very reasonable to mention them in sthe same breath.
Given many are saying that every team would love to have a Campbell Brown I think now i will very much mention them in the same breath.

Some side info which you may choose to, or not to, believe. Sheedy offered up 3 bombers for Brown after his 1st year!! Had that happened we wouldnt be discussing this:).

Personally I also think that Lucas should have stuck his hand up to be Captain when Hille took it on. It might be one reason why he is not held in as high regard as Brown Pav Riew as they are all great leaders as well as great fwds.

I think in regards to careers Lucas has had a better career so far and most would agree.

Brown is a top player and one of my favourites from other clubs and I would love to have him. He may well have the wood over Lucas.

Speaking of towelling Lucas towelled Jonathon Brown a few years ago at the Telstra Dome when the Bombers beat Brisbane outmarking him numerous times in one on one contests. I could never understand after that why Sheedy never played Lucas on him again. So the match up may well always be with Brown who knows.

Of course he is a forward option, that was exactly what the question was asked.

You're trying to get blood out of a stone.

The question asked for a list of names, I gave the list.

Of blokes that have played forward and done jobs.

We've had Lloyd and Lucas for 10 years, we're not going to have key position prospects that have played 50-100 games at FF or CHF.

What we do have, is options.

And I didn't just throw names down, I listed blokes who could play a role based on exposed form. I didn't say that would be as good as Lloyd and Lucas, I didn't mention the list of kids (Gumby, Neagle, Pears, Hooker as genuine options to come in and play the role), I listed the blokes who based on exposed form can fill a void where and when required.

Lift your game, stop making something out of nothing.

Just for the record.... I consider Lucas to be in the same league as Brown, Pav, Roo etc but I can't help but laugh out loud as I read the desperate pleas from Bombers supporters for people to rate him.

You won't hear me bitching that Paul Kelly isn't mentioned when people talk about the great midfielders of the last 20 years.

FFS... He's a great player and if you know it then who cares what other people think? Move on....

mark my words. We will be the improver this year like the Roos were last year. Our midfield and backline is very underrated and we probably have the premier forwardline in the comp with a fully fit Lucas, Lloyd, Gumby, Davey etc. The first two games of the NAB Cup have shown the DONS have what it takes this year and Knighter is quite the tactician, he's been written off but look at him now? 100% coaching record and a disciplined side ready for finals. we will probably take out the NAB Cup and set a platform for success during the year. Honestly Lucas is in ripper form get on him for the Brownlow

gumby hasnt proved anything yet

and its NAB CUP congrats on beating half strength teams

Captaincy is different for many blokes, i doubt Lucas is any less a leader than the others to his team mates. Time was right for Hille to have a go and maybe he wil benefit from that experience this year.

Thanks for the heads up on the other points, everything aside there is one thing i look forward and something i discuss with a mate who supports the Dawks and that is a return to the dominance our teams experienced in the 80's. you may be one or two years ahead in development but could see a return of 83, 84 and 85.

BTW i put some cash on a Bombers/Hawks 2008 GF at very good odds.

I don't know about top 4 material this year. We have a great developing list and could challenge for the top 4 in 3-4 years. Making the finals this year would be great for this list and be great for Matty Knights

WTF? face it the ROOS are a team of nobodies. basically if north can make top 4 anyone can (except carlton and richmond) north have nowhere near the forwardline firepower of the DONS and quite frankly the ROOS overachieved last year and it is my other prediction that they will finish 15th
its been a long 7 years hasnt it? :p
