Very simply a thread for those posters who doubted/wrote off/sunk the boots in to Eddie coming into the season to mea culpa. Own up, man up, woman up...just a little 'sorry Ed' and we'll all move on...

I'll be undertaking a thorough review over the coming week...probably...and mercilessly shaming the laggards...maybe.

I wasn’t savage on him but thought getting him back was the wrong call, then giving him another year was also the wrong call

Have already owned up to the fact I was wrong, he’s been very good this season and is moving really well also

TBH he probably deserves another year as depth. I'm still of the view it might be best to let him rest 50% the remainder of the year and get some game time into some kids. He only has about 60% game time in him these days but he has those 5-10 minute 2-3 goal bursts that are valuable. He just can't afford to have the slow start next year that he did this year and last.

Called for him to be rested many times last year and the start of this year, at times he should have been rested, but boy oh boy has he rediscovered his mojo, is playing great footy and on current form, may go on again.

He’s getting the very last drops out of himself (bless his heart) but he’s killing himself as was witnessed taking that diving mark.

Should retire this year and take up a position as an assistant coach if he wants it or player mentor or club ambassador.

He is and will always be considered a club legend and greatest indigenous footballer we’ve had since Syd Jackson.

I love watching Eddie and never doubted that he'd be capable of a few good performances here and there. However. I was not enamoured by the idea of bringing him back to the club.

I still think we would have been better served to go down a different path but that doesn't stop me from enjoying his exploits currently.

It's a celebration of course...not intentionally mean spirited...and my review likely won't extend beyond tonight's pretty sharp Great Western Shiraz.

Just thrilled to see him doing his thing...and giving us an almost mark or goal of the year every week.

I have never had potshots at Eddie, however:

I maybe happened to ask MrsEddieBetts to have a word to her husband and suggest that he's done all he can and it's time to hang up the boots.

I couldn't be more pleased to see Eddie up and about. It's joyous and it helps to make up for 'the lost years'. I hope he can play like this until he is 40.
