I think this can bring in an extra 10,000 people to this game. If we beat Carlton in round 1 in front of 80,000 plus fans and North beat Essendon, I think we can possibly get 60,000 for this Round 2 Eureka match :thumbsu:

roos have stuff all supporters, otherwise they wont have the afl ask them to move to the gold coast. i can only see 40k crowd.

The good thing here is that we (as a club) are doing something, anything. While I don't necessarily embrace the subject matter, the fact that we are trying to build marquee games which can have a flow on effect of more supporters and dollars is fine by me. We sat on our collective hands (read a@#ses) for over 20 years while clubs like Collingwood and Essendon got pro-active and didn't just move with the times - they 'created' the times. If we want the exalted "Big 4" status that seems so important to some on here, then things like this game are what will help us grow strong and reclaim our spot.

First time in 8 years we play the Roos without them having some kind of milestone game...guess they want to keep it going.

Nah stuff that. Kangaroos home game they get all the money bad move. Once we SMASH Carlton the people will show up. I am more looking forward to the Collingwood game :)
Round 2 is our first home game and a game I am looking forward to as I get to introduce my 6 year old to the joy of sitting at the Punt Rd end as Richmond hopefully win the game.

for us to get 60000 people to the rich v kangaroos game we would need to attract 55000 richmond supporters very unlikely

nah kangas will get 20,000, we'll get 35,000 and 5,000 will be neutral. Don't you remember when we got over 60,000 against the Roos in 1995 in Round 4 I think

Yeah thanks for the correction. That being the case lets fill the ground. Although we have found it hard to beat the kangaroos over the years. This is clearly our best chance to do it now. Beat Carlton then get over the roos we always beat collingwood and freo crap. 4-0 start finals here we come lol opps my bad.

We play much better against the Roos at the G than at Telstra. We haven't played them at the G many times over the last 5 years but when we do we pull over 40,000 usually. We got about 43,000 against them in 2006 and we beat them easily

I am really looking forward to the game, and plan on taking my nephew (7 yr old Richmond supporter) along with my son (North of course).
I think the concept is a good one, not garrish and could develop into a great symbolic occasion.

For North Melbourne to be involved in such a game is unbelievable, considering 4 months ago the club were odds on to be displaced to Queensland by the AFL.

I look forward to many great clashes between the Tigers and Roos at the 'G and reckon 60,000+ is definately achieavable, especially if both clubs give a good showing in Rd1.

Good luck in '08.

It's a Sunday twilight game. Hopefully the late start doesn't effect the crowd size :thumbsu:

I like this concept too, and its good to see the Roos involved in one of these type of matches:thumbsu:

Hopefully both sides win Rd 1 which will make the day even better:)
