I don't know how this will go down with everybody...

But I think it would be quite fair indeed!

Interchange Greene with Ries/Vandenburg/Thompson/Rawlings/Lonie if you'd prefer...

Chick to WCE..
Everitt + Beethem + #35 to Haw
Pick 9 + Steven Greene to St.K

Hawks:
In - Everitt, Beethem, Pick #35
Out - Daniel Chick, Steven Greene

St.Kilda
In - Steven Greene, Pick #9
Out - Everitt, Beethem, Pick #35

WCE
In - Daniel Chick
Out - Pick #9

Any thoughts? Don't just lame bag me (Suzi)...this is just a proposal...I'm only speculating and would like to know what you all think...and also to see if there's any tinkering that could be brought forward!

Usually when you post on fellow fans sites, they give you a total cold shoulder and believe their list is *untouchable* lol...hope you guys can see a little bit more reasoning....;)

Steve Greene ain't going nowhere, I wouldn't think. I can see where you are comign from considering his dad played at the Saints, but I'm pretty sure he's a Hawk for a fair while yet.

Ries is staying put. No doubt about it.
As is Vandenberg
Same with Thompson and Twiggy.
Lonie is a possibility, but he has restored my faith in him with his last few games.

Deal

Yeah not bad but I don't think Greene will be traded for family reasons if nothing else. How about Brett Johnson or Tim Clarke? Both are talented kids who, like Beethem, have fallen out of favour with the match committee.

Cheers for the response guys....contructive intellectual thought is better than destructive mud-slinging!

Yeah Clarke and Johnson are good, and I'd prefer Johnson, but I'm a little unwilling to go below Lonie or Greene.

Is it just me or didn't Greene have a stellar year...I though maybe a little of the enthusiam may have tempered..obviously not ;)? But I see what your saying, he'll be a good player for Hawthorn, I'd love to bring him to St.Kilda!

Would you put Lonie in there instead of Greene? If so = deal!

Johnson will stay but Timmy Clarke is a definite possibility of going to Geelong to play with his brother. Don't be surprised not to see Radar, Bowyer and Harford in the Brown and Gold next season. I believe Johnson will stay, at least another year - according to club insiders

Sorry but I don't see St.Kilda accepting this:

In - Steven Greene, Pick #9
Out - Everitt, Beethem, Pick #35

They would probably be ok losing Everitt for pick 9.

But I don't think they'd trade Beetham AND pick 35 for Greene, just don't see them agreeing on it after Greene's dissapointing season.

LOL....that's the first time an opposition supporter has said to me that my proposed trade deals were unfair to my club!

Everitt for #9 they'd go cool on...but throw in Greene then the deal is about done.

What about...

Hawthorn:
In - Everitt and Beethem
Out - Greene and Chick, Hawthorn 2nd Pick

WCE:
In - Chick, Hawthorn's 2nd pick, and #35
Out - (Morrison and pick #9) or (Wirrapunda)

Saints:
In - Greene, (Morrison and pick #9) or (Wirrapunda)
Out - Pick #35, Everitt and Beethem

I rate Greene higher than Beethem purely because of his work ethic. CB has a truckload of skill and talent, but his attitude isn't great, whereas Greene is a 100% goer all day. There's a lot of Crawford about Beethem in the way he gathers the footy, but he's the kind of player who'll never flourish at that certain club. Look at Simon Cox and what he's done at Hawthorn - at the Bullies he was just a fringe player, no he's a gun.

Schwab is the type of guy who I think would be perfect for Beethem. He didn't let Croad and Crawford get away with any antics, I think he'd just sort of let Beethem loose and say give it your all and just play good footy.

Next year, if he stays, Beethem will be up against Ball, Baker, Begley, Burke, Harvey, Burke, Callaghan, Moyle, Hayes, Blake, Wulf, Black, Voss, Thompson, Peckett, Milne, Clarke, Lawrence, Hamill, etc for a midfield position. Beethem can only really play in the middle. I think Greene is more versatile, he could be earmarked for a defensive role, or be pushed forward into attack.

Now I can say the Hawks are losing out, lol.

I think just the straight Everitt and Beetham for Greene and Chick would be a lot fairer.

Hmmm...alright...

Are you saying basically the Saints get Chick and need to engineer a deal with WCE or Freo?

Any alterations you could suggest so that everybody, or close enough to, wins?

Hawthorn:
In - Everitt and Beetham
Out - Greene and Chick

WCE:
In - Chick and #35
Out - Morrison and pick #9

Saints:
In - Greene, Morrison and pick #9
Out - Pick #35, Everitt and Beetham

I think that is pretty fair, works out for all teams in my opinion.

How about we re-think why the Saints are so keen (seemingly) to off-load talented footballers with attitiude problems for less proven footballers with better work-rates?

Not interested in Everitt not doubting there is talent there but why would/should the attitude change of this stage of his career? Certainly not interested in Beetham when we have similar types with a better work-rate?

I would say thanks but no thanks.

Hawkfan...

Where do I sign?

Pleasure doing business with you!

Hawks - Get a top line ruckman and an emerging midfielder. Nice thought here guys - imagine alternating Everitt and Thompson in the ruck and up forward! Ouch!

WCE - Get the class act in Chick, lose a hot/colder in Morrison for a handy pick.

St.K - Lose a champion ruck, gain a top 10 pick and a possibly good, tough player with time, but lose a potential gun midifielder.

I guess you guys are looking at top-four and need to push home with some proven quality. A downer this year, but I believe that once Hay overcomes his horrid injury, Dixon and Harf regain a bit of confidence and Thompson begins to stamp his authority on games (like he did vs St.Kilda), than it's pretty much begin 2003 like you finished 2001! Lets not forget a certain Luke Hodge is now in the Hawk ranks!

"Looks like everybody's kicked a goal!" Michael Caton, The Castle.

Only minor hitch - I don't know if WCE would like the Morrison for #35, if they would, lets all be happy as Collingwood falls and we rise up!
