Apart from wanting to win by more, that was excellent in terms of our critical upcoming games (and ideally finals)
  • Day got through the game
  • Nuke got a significant rest
  • Calsh, Mitch and Gunners gelled really well
  • Captain back to his best!!!
  • Vice Captain great again
  • Backline excellent with Scrimmers back in

All positive in my view (although, sure, I also would have loved an 80 point win, which looked on at 70 to 27)

A Druggers upset win tonight would actually do us a favour, much as it pains me to hope they win. Gives the Dopers an outside chance of leapfrogging Carlton and would also have the Dogs 3 wins off of us. I can't see the Dogs beating GWS up there either.
There's no way they'll win - doggies are downhill skiiers and Essendon have run out of players.

Does anyone else here almost literally feel their intelligence seep out of them while listening to David King?

If life was fair, he'd be doing the midnight shift stacking the shelves at Woolworths for a living...

yeah it was a frustrating game to watch, but on reflection we managed Day first game back with limited game time, Newk only played a half, Dear 3rd game back and Lewis first full game. Arguably our 4 most important players. Take it and run, we struggled with their flooding back into the backline. Feel like its Chol for B-mac with either C-mac or Worpel to sub. If Newk is carrying an injury then prob Cmac to Sub role and carry Worpel until Newk is right or Day is match fit.
Not sure if the Worpel to sub idea is a winner, there is no reality where we plan to compete in finals without Worps in the middle.

I don’t get the reactions to this, it’s a legitimate take.
Lions and Magpies were too good for us last time and crows at home will be a challenge.
It's a great run home for us. We're now close to full strength, so if we can't beat a top 4 team from 3 attempts then what are we hoping to achieve in September? If we win just one of those games then we're probably in.

It's the fait accompli that the Dogs and the Giants are going to win enough to pass us.

At the moment, GWS are looking shaky.

And we beat the Demons and the Bulldogs and Swans still have to pretty much win every game to be a chance. If the Dogs win every game they’d take points off of Freo and GWS along the way. Freo and GWS have tough opponents and worse percentages than us also. It’s not impossible of course but a shitload has to go against us to miss finals.

Side note: I jumped on the Blues BFF, to congratulate the 'Doc' there was no thread for him, and the post-game thread was closed.
Consequently, I wish 'Doc' all of the best, he was a great player, had massive numbers for my FFL team a lot, was clean, respected, admired and wanted at other clubs.
Thanks to the 'Doc' and his future with his loving family by his side.
It was also soo good to see Simmo chair him off at the end.

Dogs v Giants next Friday night. Giants and Freo are the form teams of the comp. They will get up for this game just like they have this year against alot of the top 8. Win and the Dogs are just about done.

Exactly. The pressure is right on the Dogs.

Some good analysis from Jeff White.

I wasn't watching the first half - just listened on radio. It sounded like Wiz had 2-3 calls against him for tackling others high. It blows my mind - it seems like he's now having more called against him than for him!

Wiz was close lined and nothing called in the third from memory in front of the umpire. The AFL need to be careful with letting these incidents go. Parents including me, are going to continue to divert their kids to safer sports where head high hits on smaller players go penalised.

That wasn't even the worst one. He got done for holding the ball when his opponent first held him without it, then dragged it in (opponent actually got up to take the free with the ball already in his hand)

If we can't win one of these three, that will leave us 3 from 11 againt the rest of the top 9 and we probably deserve to miss (though might scrape in).

Think we match up well against Adelaide, and Collingwood is not playing the same quality of footy at the minute; Brisbane in Brisbane will be a challenge, but we have a good history against them. Win two and go close in the third and we will be one of the form teams coming into the finals, with a team that's demonstrably on the improve. Exciting days ...

I just watched the Kayo mini. They didn't show Calshers one hander or Days grab. Who edits those things? Was basically just a lead up to goal passage selection. Wasn't exactly an electric game but why not show the few electric bits
But show Dochertys missing a goal

We effectively played a man down in those two games (Sicily being injured). Day & Calsher weren't playing and don't discount the impact of Impey missing (for valid reasons) against the Lion's in Indigenous round.

We are in a far better place (except for Weddle) this time around.

Agreed, and I don’t agree with King, but people are overreacting to this. As I said, it is a legitimate opinion.
