Kristin Thornton took out the Peel Thunder B&F [Dudley Tuckey Medal] in the WAFL this year.

This guy played every game, running his guts out in and around the centre. Booted 25 or so goals running forward. Won the club B&F and polled the most Sandover votes at his club. Still about 23 years old. Very, very "Nick Lower" kind of career. Lower played a few games with Port before getting dumped and Thornton played 6 with the swans.

Last year he wasn't delisted from the swans because he was bad - it was because he was always injured and not able to put a few games together. That certainly was not the case in 2011.

If he nominated for the draft, would he be worth another crack at the AFL? Especially given the compromised draft due to GWS?

I was always a fan, he certainly seemed to have the skill required.

So going back to Sumner, I take it he has demanded SA or nothing? Still would have let the draft play out though.. If true no wonder he was delisted, not bagging him for it sometimes players dont have AFL as their first priority he maybe he wants to be with family..
Still, what a waste he had some talent.. From above Bevan to GWS, Currie to the Bombers, not guessing on Heath.

If Thornton can make it good luck to the boy. His effort was always rated by the swans hence why he was delisted, rookied and promoted but was Always a little slow and just a bridge to far with his continual problems.

He's got the work ethos required for a mature age tilt at the game and there wouldn't be anybody at the swans unhappy if he got another shot. Has he actually nommed?

Unless you are a current year delisting or attended the draft combine there appears to be no way of knowing. Other nominations seem to be a very closely guarded secret.

But surely if you are 23 and win the B&F at any WAFL or SANFL club you should nominate as a matter of course.... especially in years of compromised drafts....

My love for the great man never changed I was just disappointed about it.. Hopefully we can find him a job at home where he belongs, just having a guy like that around the club makes the players walk taller..
Great news, to be honest my gut told me he wouldnt stick around when his contract expired..
Hopefully a few Swans supporters even considering having a look at the filthy club that is GWS take note.

Love ya Kels..:thumbsu:

McKaigue turns down GWS and Port. Now that would have been a trivia question in the years to come, who was the first former Swan to play for the Giants?

"I'd have played a few games at Port Adelaide if things had gone well, but it was just too high a risk to re-locate in a different part of Australia and go back for a year.

"It could have been another year of my life when I wouldn't have been ultimately doing what I want to do, which was playing Gaelic football."

I wonder if ultimately that was his problem here, he didn't want it bad enough? Ah well he came out and gave it a crack, so he clearly made sacrifices and wanted it.

Or he is just appeasing them back home :)

Best of luck.

I'd like to see how Bevan progresses in the WAFL, I'd like to see him kick a few bags and perhaps get another shot at AFL footy in the future. It's probably unlikely, but I'd love to see it happen. I can't believe he hasn't been picked up, youth is overrated.
