Seriously, the Lefties, get a grip...
Edit: Directed at original post, get politics out of this. If he's guilty,he should be gone, regardless of whether ... sossshllllissssmmmm
What?
You begin with a weak political jab.
Then requested politics out of the conversation.
Then finish off with sossshllllissssmmmm
Politics again.
Is that you Andrew Bolt?

"There's still a hangover in relation to (the) salary cap. We've still got some issues we're dealing with there, but they're not insurmountable at all," Wright told SEN on Thursday.

"There hasn't been any conversation at the moment about how we look at the list from an end of year perspective and exactly what we're going to do.”
Graham Wright

So, who stays and who goes?
You’d think that the new coach will have a say, and that we are likely looking at another big turnover. Here’s my delist/trade list:
C Brown
Chugg
Cox
Greenwood - gone
Madgen
Mayne
Ruscoe
Sidebottom?
Sier
Thomas
Tohill
Wilson

That’s 12 players we can move on.
Just go for a couple of kebabs or a KFC family feast.

That sorts a hangover, then a few hair of the dog shots!

As to your list, none of them really impact TPP.

Yeah.... Nah!

If the case merits a jail term then I assume he'll likely be deregistered, if a fine and/or community service he can continue on.
That’s the most likely scenario imho.

The charge he faces even if found guilty (note 6 years ago and 19 at the time) would be extremely unlikely to attract any sort of jail term.

Agree. I doubt it would have gotten the tick off from the AFL when it first surfaced if it was remotely a jail sentence worthy offense.

I always go for hair of the dog with a couple of breakfast beers.

It ought to be, he’s under contract until end-2022…

Do you really think the club will hold players to contracts? We’re a goodwill club and definitely not a Sydney type that stands firm so whoever pulls the pin first between Maynard and JDG* will be allowed to leave.

*pending they want out of course.

Well if we’re a good will club and they both want to leave then why not both?

I just don’t see it though, they would have to be absolutely set on leaving and that just hasn’t happened for us with players under contract for a long time. Beams maybe? But there were extenuating circumstances.

Not sure moving on 12 players is going to be the "fix"

How does delisting Chugg Ruscoe Tohill and Wilson fix the salary cap exactly? They are on minimum chips and will be replaced by other players on minimum chips. Others like Madgen Sier Brown and even Thomas wont be on huge money.

To fix any residual salary cap, Mayne and Cox along with Greenwood will be the main avenues to reducing the exposure. Other players like Sidebottom (argubaly Mayne too..and Howe, maybe Pendlebury) can be offered one year contracts on reduced salaries. I doubt much more than that will be required.

I doubt we will trade any "name" players unless they ask to walk and we get suitably large offers for the likes of Grundy and JDG. Maynard should be "not for sale".

It’s probable we’d lose both. I’m just less convinced both will choose to leave. I’d have it at 50% both stay, 25% one stays and 25% neither stays. I think a pretty good case could be made to say there’s some extenuating circumstances currently.

TBH if someone wants to pick up the tab I wouldn’t be shocked to see Grundy lost this off season. The pain is going to be significant and I’m ready for next years spoon the biggest fear I have though is that we double down on last years moves and trade our 2022 1st. It’s unlikely, but still a concern.

I can live with trading our 2022 1st if it's to get say a top 10 pick this year after we've matched Daicos.

If he’s found guilty and gets community service or a suspended sentence, we still have a player who has been convicted of indecent assault.

The pressure on the club to act will be immense. Personally, I would expect the club to take a stand and move him on.

I hope he is not guilty of this crime.

Id rather we keep what is likely a top 3 pick in 2022. Hine will likely sell it for less than it’s worth and then draft speculative high risk, but high ceiling types

I think we should our 2022 1st to land a key forward (as they usually go early in their draft years) or better still... use it as part payment for then out of contract Ben King

Agreed on both counts.

If he's found guilty the club has no choice.

I'm clearly more optimistic on our bounce in 2022.

Not Hines job to be trading draft picks.
Graham Wright will be running list management for a while now that Ned Guy has gone.

Let's just say the accusation is that he groped the accuser against her will (absolutely not on btw just to be clear) and he's found guilty and given a fine, or community service, or whatever - do you think that action from 6 years ago deserves that he be sacked? We have to assume that there have been no further similar allegations made since and yet the club should now sack him?

We had Krak on the list after he spent 5 years in jail for a serious assault.

The club already know about the allegations and so does the league. There will be pressure from outsiders for sure, but such a crime is at the most minor end of the scale of such things and shouldn't end a career.

Anyway, this is all hypothetical at this stage so let's just see what happens.

BTW, if we sack him another club will just pick him up for free in a year's time.

I agree we need to wait and see. Jordan is presumed innocent until the verdict, but we can’t have a player convicted of indecent assault on the list. It doesn’t matter how long ago the incident occurred.

Like I said, I hope he is found not guilty.

I don't accept that at all. If it's minor and there's no repeat behaviour then he should not be cancelled.

Of course we can.

Richmond debuted a convicted (and jailed) criminal in a Grand Final. Collingwood threw a lifeline to Andrew Krakouer who had also been jailed.

Dane Swan was convicted of assault and served 100 hours of community service.

Theres no reason why we couldnt pay the same faith into Jordy given how young he was at the time and relatively well behaved since - especially the past 3-4 years , asssuming the actual incident was at the lower end of the scale which by all accounts it seems to be.

If we were to do that the media would make his and the club's life a living hell.
They already have a campaign against the club, that would be playing directly into their hands.

Who cares what the media think?

Its actually reverse racism to be playing that card, after the way the media applauded Richmond for giving Pickett a lifeline.

The media will have long moved on from whatever JDG verdict there is by the time the 2022 season rolls around.

If he’s found guilty of indecent assault he’ll be history. Surprised anyone would disagree to be honest.

Mnah, we ain't moving our 1st on, the club knows it's in rebuild. I also doubt we're heading for the spoon either, the list we have is far away from bottom 4. Severely imbalanced yes and the current style of game is not suited to it (or any team for that matter - maybe wc or cats).

The blue chip quality is as good as any, barring Pendles, Sides and Howe coz age - certainly something to build with.
