One of the earliest intercolonial matches - check out the outstanding figures of 9 for 2 by Gideon Elliott in the first innings
Also check out the Victoria captain who gave away 8.5 times as many runs as the next most expensive bowler - must be a record or close to it. He was so pissed off he not only didn’t bowl Elliott in the second innings, he also decided to invent footy when he got back to Melbourne later that year.

Game currently in progress in the NZ Plunkett Shield

At 3/75, Auckland may have thought they had a chance to knock Central Districts over for under 200.

Speaking of starting well before it all went pear-shaped - Jason Holder taking 1/9 in his first five overs then 0/95 in his second five overs.

So close to two 300 partnerships in a row. I wonder if there have ever been two 300 partnerships in the same innings.

You absolute nerd, love it.
It wasn't hard. My thought was that it would be most likely to be one of the highest ever first class innings totals. So I googled that, got the Cricinfo list and then that was about the fifth match down. Took about two minutes.

Would have done the same except I posted it at midnight and couldn’t be arsed.

Wonder if that’s the only innings to contain three double centuries? Again I can check all 600+ innings, again can’t be arsed right now.

Englands 7/903 contained 3 scores over 169, the highest triple score in a single test cricket innings.

Indias 7/676 v Sri Lanka in the 80’s next best at 163.

Scorecard reminds me of the Clarke 329 game. 3 for nothing and then some absurd partnerships

Clarke really should’ve gone for the record that game. Did the team thing but we ended up winning with a day to spare

Yep.

I can understand Taylor declaring on himself because we'd batted for two days at that point, but Clarke and Warner should have kept going. Warner in particular - it wasn't even tea on day 2.

Remember being at the pub watching the tail end of that first innings, wondering if they'd get the 400, and they smashed past it by a big margin.

Then checking in on Internet overnight I could see SAF were more than one track to get it.

Punter continuing with M Lewis not his finest moment.

It was an amazing game, but the fact that 400 had never been done before, then both sides exceed 430; I felt the pitch and outfield played a very big part.
