Seriously I don’t think Geelong have anything to do with this, this situation is all of Marra’s making, and seems to have started when he joined the boxing rink outside the club’s training program. They're entitled to him. Stop holding him back
The current contracts are tripartate: the player; the club; the AFL. The AFL effectively has veto over what the clubs might want to do.I am fairly sure that the AFL is the employer under the current contract scheme. Accordingly, a decision to vary, amend (or even) terminate is a decision for the AFL.

We already have one, I can't see anything happening between now and the mid-season draft regarding Jamarra that will open another. We really just need to get it sorted before the mid season draft.
We will want to know whether or not we have a vacant list spot by then.
Why would the Bulldogs want to do this? we still pay him, can't play him and frees up salary cap room we can't use. Its the worst of all worldsI wonder if a unique agreement could be reached whereby he is paid his normal salary, but it isn't actually within the salary cap and he is deemed ineligible for selection for the season.
The issue this very obviously brings up is regarding players that have season-long injuries (ACLs, achilles etc) and an argument could be made that these players could rightly also be moved into this ineligible list. This unique agreement would see that other than getting paid, ties are essentially cut and the player isn't permitted at the club, whereas injured players are able to use the club for it's rehabilitation facilities, trainers etc.
I'm mindful it's very messy but smarter minds than I could potentially put something like this together.
Losing Dunkley was frustrating but manageable.I hate to be that guy, but it’s always us huh?
We tried this and afl won't let us.What does Bevo mean when he says Jamarra's future is the AFL's hands?
"At the moment the decision-making in regards to Marra's future and what that entails is significantly in the AFL's hands.
"We're waiting on them to do certain things and we're continually interacting with them and working through it to work out what's best for Marra."
Sounds like we want to sack him or suspend his pay, but are waiting for the AFL to tick off on it.
His latest social media escapades have been some sort of last straw to alot at the club. His return to play agreement that I've spoken about many times got about a week and a half deep before it fell over.Bevos tone around Jamarra seemed a little less supportive in this mornings presser, to say the least.

They try to claim the South West because their local league clubs and their VFL side players out of here. This myth from Geelong supporters that he was ever in any kind of Geelong zone refuses to die. The NGA zones were announced in February 2016 (when Jamarra was 13 years old), and we had the South-West region from it's inception (https://www.carltonfc.com.au/news/347386/blues-allocated-region-for-academy). Even with the zones from back in the day, Fitzroy had the Hampden League - the Warnambool area has never been a Geelong football club zoning region.
They feel entitled to him because they held a football clinic down that way when he was 12 years old.
There isn't much they don't claim to be honest. They try to claim the South West because their local league clubs and their VFL side players out of here.
Sounds to me like a dad taking his sons side and believing what he tells him.FWIW Marra's dad has had this to say after being quiet about the whole scenario. “Always trying to twist the narrative... delusional”. Take from that what you will.
From a financial point of view it’s the same as it’ll be regardless, but having him disassociated from the club officially makes it a lot easier when people from the club are asked about him - “He’s no longer a Bulldogs player so here’s the number to his manager.”Why would the Bulldogs want to do this? we still pay him, can't play him and frees up salary cap room we can't use. Its the worst of all worlds
It's completely delusional and so easy to prove incorrect, yet they persist with the claim. They try to claim the South West because their local league clubs and their VFL side players out of here.
