Bevo was pretty quick to state he didn’t want a weekly questionnaire around Jamarra.

I may be way off base here but suspect there may have been a set back?

I think that’s totally reaching about there being a setback

I can imagine it would be annoying being asked the same questions every week about Jamarra.

Fair enough. I did say it was a suspicion and not that I was saying there definitely had been. I hope I’m wrong. He was obviously at training today which is good.

No set backs. It's just we only last week have said it'll be 4-6 weeks before he's considered for VFL level, so Bevo rightfully has said nothing has changed just one week on. What's the point of the same question every week when the timeline has already been very clearly laid out, I understand his frustration.

Nah I agree with the sentiment, I just thought Bevo was extra snappy with it that's all, I'm likely dead wrong :)

He seemed a bit frustrated in the presser after the Tigers match too, hopefully that means he's got the boys fired up for this week.

As a neutral watching from outside its sad when a player comes out and says he had suicidal thoughts. I dont know but I think it would be good for Jamarra to step away from social media for a while and stay away from it. Just feel that he may be the target of more media, more opposition supporters getting into him if he comes back. Whats the thinking behind things will get better than they were before?

Just seeing him get back on the footy field and doing what he loves - I think the whole comp just wants to see that happening.

My opinion if him has changed a fair bit after watching the podcast. I didnt know his situation. But one has to question, if it happened again, whats to suggest it could be a repeat? He mentions the death of one of his close ones and he decided not to rock up to training for that reason.

By all means the club would have allowed him time to get away for grief and all but I guess there are mechanisms in place to keep the trust between the two parties. It sounds to me there that Jamarra has picked his own time and place to do things at his own accord.
Really if i heard him right it's sad story come too think about

Yep, that was the downside for me too. The one and only time I’ll be tuning into that show!
But hang on i thought robbo when asked jamarra

Yes it was good too see him back today from what i've heard from tom morris he was late for training because his car was stoline what can tom morris do walk to training ,why can't the media along tom morris just get off his back and foccus on his footy now

I watched the whole podcast, and it answered a lot of questions and for most i sympathize with Jamarra. Where he comes from and low he got. I can understand why he is so annoyed with a lot of click bait media.

However, it should not be surprise he is going to get good publicity and bad press when you play AFL get paid big bucks. I am sure he would have educated by the club form the start. For some like Bailey Smith it is water off a ducks back and adds to his profile and for Marra it is hard to take.

What it not address was what came first a bad attitude to training and playing or he was struggling mentally and that lead to the unprofessional attitude. Also, I would like to hear if he believes he let his club and himself leading into the final against the hawks.

Lets, hope it is all good from here but think there is still a lot of ups and downs.

When he returned to the club and addressed the playing group he mentioned incidents going back to mid last year so I dare say that final (or the lead into it) was amongst them.

Yes i did watch the podcast and i thought mitch robertson didn't give Jamarra a chance but lets not forget Robbo did ask Jamarra if he spoke to other clubs simple question simple answer no the other question was his heart is with the bulldogs he wants to play but it's up to the AFL and the Western Bulldogs

If it’s rehab he’s been to, then I think it’s probably a bit naive from everyone to think there won’t be setbacks.

Bevo said last week he just wants Marra to be one of the boys on the list, without creating unnecessary attention but since he’s been back, there’s been a fair bit of noise. Even posting a photo of the bloke who stole his car... it’s little things like that which just draw unwanted attention. Footy’s such a team game, and Bevo’s clearly big on not distracting from the team goals....Hopefully things settle down over the next couple of weeks and he can find the right balance. The big thing is consistency, once he finds that, I reckon there’ll be genuine consideration around him playing some footy in the vfl before the season is out.

A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. Society can only move as fast as the slowest person.

It just so happens that the current collective of AFL journalists are both, as all they want to do is generate headlines and drama.

There are a few decent ones out there, but they don’t draw the same attention. We also lost 1 recently (RIP Sammy) which doesn’t help.

For what it’s worth, this was the discussion around Marra at the top of the show on Agenda Setters:

Caro said Marra went back to Warrnambool due to the death of an elder. There are concerns about him getting into trouble again, but the club says they’re unaware of that rumour.

Kane asked if he’s being drug tested weekly. Caro said she’s not sure, but the AFL is handling it through some sort of triage process.

Crazy how he cannot attend his grandma funeral without the media grubs trying to make it a story
I thought it was strange how quickly some on here dismissed Bevo’s change of tone when it came to Marra in last week’s press conference. Clearly, it hasn’t been smooth sailing. It appears he still has a lot of the same influences around him. It’s going to be hard to change behaviour if you don’t change the environment.

I think by the end of the season, it might be in Marra’s best interests to move interstate and find a new environment where he’s away from all of these influences.

Asking if he’s being drug tested weekly, this is embarrassing. Cornes clearly doesn’t give two shits about anyone’s mental health.

Based on a change of tone?
From a man notorious for hating media asking the same question every week?
Or is this based on other evidence?

Are you really suggesting we throw a guy out based on vibes?

That’s a lot of assumptions.

In the pre-match presser vs Richmond, roughly three days after Marra’s return to the club, Bevo said, "If any of our resources are spread too thin and they can't spend time with everybody, it can compromise things. You almost have to blend in, and if there's signs it's not working, we need to work it out."

That quote feels pointed... and as much as the club and all of us want it to work out for Marra, if it’s compromising the team too much, I think the club will be forced to make some tough decisions at season’s end.

With that in mind, throughout this season there have been multiple reports from various publications stating that no Victorian club will pursue Marra... and there’s a reason for that. They believe, like a lot of us do, that his environment is one of the primary drivers behind many of the issues that have surfaced in recent times. Even Geelong, who were heavily tipped to go after him early in the season have privately ruled it out. The idea of him living an hour closer to Warrnambool, in my opinion, is a recipe for disaster. I think Geelong came to that same conclusion.

Marra is very open about what he gets up to on social media. He’s still spending time with many of the same people he was around before the wellness facility stint. Just this weekend, he shared a photo of himself and one of his mates inside a club. Maybe he’s one of those rare characters who isn’t influenced by his friendship circle and can change his behaviour while still engaging with the same people who contributed to it, but I suspect that’s not the case.

I also suspect his career trajectory, in the best case scenario, mirrors someone like Jesse Hogan’s. And for Hogan, it wasn’t until he left Victoria and was at his third club that things started to turn around.

You must work in the media with all those guesses and assumptions
