Because the game was played at his pace?

I really hope Nash makes it because he has the qualities he needs, but my critisism is he just looks out of his depth with the pace of the game.

I know he's only a kid, but at times he's been completely lost.

Today, however was a fantastic game. Super game, I'd just like to see him do something similar in the dry.

I think he'll be a player in all conditions, he would have gained a lot of confidence today.

there is no reason why he shouldnt excel in the dry, he isn't slow and his ability to hit targets both short and long means he will be very damaging.

He isn't physically slow, but I've suspected he is mentally slow at the top level.

Step in the right direction today, I really hope it is a step forward because he has the qualities we need. Just not sold quite yet, but I'll most definately give him the chance to prove me wrong.

Nash and Reynolds today made delisting/trading decisions all that little bit more difficult today. JJ likewise for some of his doubters.

Im just not sold on Reynolds, IMO...I seriously doubt he would get anywhere near close to playing in our best 22 with our full list.

Granted, some blokes would be stiff to miss out also under those ideal circumstances, but who could he possibly replace in a fit Essendon 22?
If we were to recruit another gun midfielder, I dare say Heff n Dyson could find themselves struggling also.

Seen Jay twice this year - against Geelong he put in the poorest performance of any Essendon player this season (and that's saying something). Yesterday was much better. Hope he keeps it up.

I couldn’t disagree more.

He was found out against the cats playing on a bloke who demands a lot of the footy. He struggled knowing when to run off and when to play tight. he also lost his footing a lot which is no surprise considering most guys do on their first run at the dome.

Playing in defence with a bunch of blokes that you haven’t played a lot of footy with is hard. He's played on Buckley, Riccuito and Chapman in three of his first 5 games, I think any harsh judgments should be reserved until he gets a few more games under his belt. The mentally slow comment doesn’t fly with me as IMO he is as quick a thinker as we have on our list and reads the game beautifully.

Playing deep is not his best position but he is improving playing on guys who lead up to the footy. Ideally we'd have him playing on ball or on a wing.

He is more a lindsay gilbee type in my mind. I saw on the channel 10 rankings he was ranked 2nd or 3rd on the ground despite having 19 posessions(while many others had over 30). This shows his decision making and the efficiency of his kicking.

He's on my delist list as well. But he really showed what we lack yesterday. I hope he keeps it up. My main concern has been his ability to be involved in the game. He has good disposal, seems to be learning the defensive side of the game ok, but he just seems to disappear out of a game far too easily. Yesterday he stood up and was composed under pressure. Very promising.

I pray Sheedy doesn;t drop him as I would like to see if he can use this game as a springboard to better things. He is on the cusp so every good game counts.

Not sure he can be compared to Gilbee at this stage...you;re comparing him to a guy who regularly drills them from over 50m out, but I like the look of him.

Was surprised to see that he's the same height at Reynolds and only 3kgs heavier too...according to the team lists online. Visually doesnt appear that way.

Lets be honest the game was a disaster but IMO we found a player tonight. He tried his guts out all night and his skills and footy brain shone through.
Was just about to come in here and see if anyone has started a thread on him. Haven't seen too much of the guy, but he looks to have great hands and good footy brain. Everytime he has the ball, it looks like he knows exactly what he's gonna do with it.

I will be upfront and admit i said he will be no good and we should delist him.
As much as the jury is out i think i may have been wrong and although he may not "make it" he certainly is worth continuing with and he may actually be a good player in years to come

Jay Nash. What a beautiful kick. Very classy player, he was just a slow developer. 21 disposals, should be in with a shot for this week's Rising Star Nomination. He had 19 disposals last week. Provides great run off halfback
