Havn't seen a thread with this kind of title for a while have you?

Was just on the Eagles board and saw their thread discussing what the trade would be. Some of the crap they tossed up (1 3 20 bower for example) and how quickly they dismissed what was the eventual trade is hilarious.

That just shows exactly how little 99% of people on BigFooty know about what is going on at clubs, especially when so many people claim to know whats happening. So much pure speculation flying around.

There'll be 10 more threads like this every year for the next 10 when the careers of the draft picks get added together. Eagles fans may end up having something to say in support of the trade but it doesnt matter. No one will ever really be able to put the value on the:

a) professionalism
b) boost to improvement
c) boost to confidence

that Judd brings to us. With a young list, we needed the perfect leader to overcome the stale stagnant lack of leadership we had. Whether this takes us somewhere upon high or not, the incremental benefit is immense to us. Consider the benefits on Murph, Gibbs through to late picks like Anderson.

We won the day we got him.

The way AFL trading is structured you were always going to get the good end of the stick. Sad but true.

Like we said from the day he announced his intention, we were never going to get value for him. Which is why his decision to leave was disappointing on many levels. We thought he was a better bloke than that, a stronger bloke than that.

Only possible way we could have was if you could trade future draft picks. Something I've been saying for a few years.

We got our man - end of story. Nothing we gave West Coast would be adequate compensation to cover the loss of Judd. Very very pleased he's wearing Navy Blue.

Ain't that the truth!! Such is life, (ergh...did i say that) i suppose, when it comes to the vagaries of the draft.

it might well prove in time that this was the biggest draft move ever and so you're always going to get the draft freaks that will be ordering three 1st rounders, a years supply of cat food and a lifesize naked picture of Bea Arthur. It'll happen again with Kerr if he goes but the circumstances are slightly different. Every club has its share of this fantasy draft lunatic fringe tho.

One of your other posters mentioned the professionalism and the enhanced club credibility that comes from a judd. Thats what i miss the most. But you can never take away the goosebumps ALL fans get just watching that guy. what a champ

Thats just a low pissweak comment.

Judd leaving for his home - after winning you a Premiership mind you - doesnt make him weak. Stronger bloke than that? FFS thats a shithouse thing to say. Just say you're disappointed and you wish he hadn't have left; we'd understand. No need to put a personal attack onto it. He left.

The second Judd said he was heading home, the Eagles were going to lose. There was no way they had the bargaining position to get fair value for Judd, if fair value is even possible for a player of his attributes.

But the Eagles did well. They got a quality prospect and two good draft picks. They made the best of a bad situation.

Likewise, Carlton were pretty fair. They didn't give in to all of the Eagles' demands, and nor did they need to. They paid a high price, but not "full" price for Juddy.

Sure, it's a "win" for Carlton, but it was handed to them. The Eagles did pretty well out of it too.

Sound bitter mate!

Look I know you were never going to get full value from the trade, you cant buy what Judd adds to a club, but you got reasonable compensation.

Pick 3, a young kpp pick 4 who you guys were raving about til he got injured, and an earlier 2nd rounder is alot and you would never have got more if Judd had nominated any other club cos no one had what we could offer.

WC knew our offer was the best they could hope for and duly accepted. Why would we give more than we had to when we knew it was more than any other club could do?

As for kerr, he is contracted and will be too pricey for any club this year so either WC lower their expectations (if kerr/wc are desperate to lpart ways) or he stays on.

This one post shows more class and intelligence than half the entire Judd Trade posts combined. Nice effort and an opinion I completely agree with. :thumbsu:

Meh, we have him, they don't ..thats all that matters.

I'm happy with the trade. Not everyone will be at the end of the day but in the end I think West Coast will do well with Kennedy, Masten and Notte in the long-term.

I'm not saying that anything in particular matters, its just that with all the Kerr trade crap all the same things are happening again, and im sitting back having a laugh at the similarities. The one eyed supporters seeking 5 way trades in order to gain 3 first round picks etc etc, these things couldnt be further from what actually eventuates and i find it hilarious at how much time and thought goes into what they dish up. Im really referring to the idiot that trade week evokes in people, not WCE supporters in particular.

Some of their fans have even said that they won the trade.. I think Armfield was better than Masten this season

You are saying a bloke is crap after his first season where he had no pre-season due to OP and also missed half the season and was on the bench for half the games he did play due to the same problem. Not a very well thought out post.

Just ignore that post. Rating any players on first years let alone factoring in injuries isnt worthwhile in any case in my view - some players take a while and i think you start judging from year 3.

Plus Armfield got pantsed a few times too so i dont think the post was factually correct either.

He didn't "win us a premiership". There are 22 players in a team. And don't come back with "you wouldn't have won it without him". When you win a flag by one point you can same the same thing about all the other 21 players aswell.

As for getting high and mighty about WC posters bitterness at Judd, lets think back to how Carlton supporters felt towards Hamill when he left. It hurts a lot less now that it is clear that we would still not be a flag threat even if he was still there. Nobody will take a flag off Geelong in this era.

Judd is a weak captain. There is no doubt. I thought the same when he was at west coast. He is an individual, not a leader. A bit like Lara and Tendulkar.

It was reported on 6PR recently that Judd initially requested a trade to Collingwood from the eagles last year and was told very firmly that would not happen due to them attempting to shaft us in the past. He only went to you because a) he couldn't get to Collingwood b) you were offering twice as much money as anybody else.

I think the ones being high & mighty (which is a nice change from being out on the street on drugs) in this thread are TOA and yourself. Chris Judd left after being a key player in your Premiership. Its not like he got up and left after 2 years and went home. He didnt get up and go when you were on your knees. He stayed for a long period of time, a period of time that brought great success, and then decided to go home.

Cite Hamill as much as you want and the response would be what you probably told us at the time - 'get over it'.

The posts directed at Judd for not being strong, and as evidenced by your 'thoughts' are nothing but weak snide snipes at someone who left. The central point is he did after providing great service.

As for your 6PR rumours (mixed in with some great trade rumours Im sure), we'll probably never know. If he said he wanted to go to Collingwood it doesnt mean that he is any less of a leader. But as for your money comment that's just plain wrong and if you cant admit that you're wasting everyones time. Big money offers for the biggest name in the land were offered from all Clubs. Money wasnt the issue; coming up with a deal acceptable to WCE was the issue. Carlton did it. Carlton had more to offer and offered it - not full value but the best offer. Your Club accepted it.

And so should you.

To label Judd a weak captain is the funniest line ive read, he was the leader of a club with drug and disiplanary problems and he didnt want to lead the club because of these problems, at Carlton he has florished as captain and really leads by example. As for him picking Collingwood, that to is crap, we all know that they have to print something in that poor example of a news paper the west australian, and 6pr have to report something to pull a audience, because its not like theres anything positive to report about your football teams. One day you will get over the bitterness of Judd leaving and move on.

Also reported on 6pr that Cousins never had a drug problem..get your head out of your arse..Hamill never wanted to go home he just wanted more money.
Juddy is a great captain and you are just a bitter egirls fan who watched his team implode this season after the great man left ..like Juddy said ..he carried them for 6 years .

Everyone from WC would be at least slightly bitter about Judd leaving. Its only natural. I mean we drafted the bloke who had had 2 shoulder recos, we knew nothing about him, all of a sudden he starts dominating and we think we have a player. Quickly he is a superstar at 19. Wins a Brownlow by 22. Made club captain. Captained a premiership. And we lost him.

So of course we are bitter :p

But then again, the fact he started his career with us, we had that initial excitement of not knowing just how good this kid was getting, he became the player he is at our club and he captained our club to a premiership so we can still take alot enjoyment out of what Judd gave us. No number of games at Carlton will take that away. The fact that he would have stayed at WC if we were a Melbourne based club is something that alot of WC fans can hold close. I doubted him when he first said it but some of the stuff he has done over the past year has made me believe him.

As I climb back on the high horse, I just want to say how hate all these sooky AFL players wanting to go home. I just dont get it. Grow up I said. Its not even like Australia is very small or you never get a chance to return him throughout a season. You can go home when your 30 and spend next 60yrs in that same place if you so wish.

I agree would be bitter as anything. In the end you were pretty lucky at WC. Probably the best start to a career anyone has ever had, at least you got him near his peak, if not at it.
