Is this what we're going to have to put up with all year - it's time to go Mick threads? :o

I for one appreciate what he's done, and what he's doing.

Mick is coaching this year. What happens after that depends on what happens this SEASON, not Round 1. Deal with it people.

Yeah mate every loss and every win that isnt by at least 12 goals im sure this will occur

Em it wouldn't be so bad if the plants would just allow the discussion to flow for a while and then die a natural death, but they come on all abusive and fire the threads up again.

When they resort to name calling we know they have no arguement left in them.

You what I love about being a Pies fanatic, we never give up hope, we supporters alway stick by our club. So how come people are talking about our next coach when this season is only one round old. Over here in Perth I saw people calling for MMs head in 1994 and then had a good laugh at all the early season nay-sayers. Some people here (with their own agendas) put the rest of us at risk of the same ridicule the I heaped on the theatre-goers over here in 94.

Pie plants?

Come off it, im a uni student who loves collingwood, dl is a headcase who loves collingwood and CTA is a harsh critic who loves collingwood (who has somehow returned)

None of us actually work for collingwood

So your friendly with the others and know them well.....
No

god its hard not to bite

I have read their posts. DL is headcase but he is always defending collingwood even if it means he goes way to far, CTA can be very very harsh but a collingwood hater never.

Myself i would love to work for collingwood but alas no i dont work for them, never have.

Now please stop casting assertions about me, like im a pie plant or who i amy or may not know. As i have said before tess you do not know me, you will never actually know me NEVER so please stop pretending you do

Apparently MM is on "On The Couch" tonight, should be good. (Sorry if it has already been said)

Basically he is paid to do a job, he busts his ass to do this job.

He is paid very well to produce results. I'm still waiting for those results, arent you?

He almost drove himself to an early grave in 05 and 06 but kept on going

Then as I suggested 4 years back, it would have been a good time for him to depart. 5 years, no flags, its about the time coaches get the flick for the same result.

If it ends this year, he is philosophical and believes he could of done no more then what he did, you cant force anyoen to apoligise for that.

Maybe thats the problem: he cant do anymore! Funnily enough 7 other clubs in the meantime have had coaches that could do moreand probably paying less. 2 of which have since departed. I wonder if we will ever land one of those type coaches!

In any case that article told us nothing we didnt already know, until it started to get broken down and double meanings were made about everything that was said or wasnt said
As I said, I read it, it raised an eyebrow by the casual remark of just being able to walk away. Maybe Collingwood means more to me than the money he is getting paid. Maybe he knows he is set for life and probably will walk into a job elsewhere. After all, this is his 5th club. Its not like is a 'Collingwood' man

Tess am I a plant simply because I disagree with your point of view?

No matter how you cut it or what you would like to read into the Collingwood media round-a-bout, the vast majority of Collingwood supporters and members have a positive view of Malthouse tenure.
Yes he is out of contract at the end of this season.
Yes his performance over the past few years and his tenure as a whole will be assessed toward the end of the year. No he is not guaranteed a new contract. No we have no idea at all who may replace him if in fact he is to go. Undoubtedly the media was always going to pick-up on this, as they have with the other 6 coach's who will be out of contract.
It is not a sign of his time being up or of a turning against him by the Magpie faithful. It is just media.

The one thing which could be contrued as a turning agains MM is the enormous amount of negative posting on forums such as this.

I only hope that those who take notice of such things are smart enough to realise it is the same 4-5 posters turning out 90% of all the negativity.

I have no problem with rumour being discussed or dissent among the posters in regard to any player or member of the club as general discussion.

What I do have a problem with is the same opinion being flogged by an individual when it is obvious everyone knows of and has heard this opinion ad nauseum.

Maybe a few of the on the anti-MM side of the discussion are the more likely "plants".
Only the negative side of the discussion have anything to gain.
The vast majority realise MM's worth.

You are a disgrace, the worst part is, this saturday you will tune into the game, we most likely will win but will you be happy for Collingwood? Most likely not because you hate the coach, which makes you indirectly hate the club, how stupid are you and how stupid is your little situation?

Malthouse got us to 2 grand finals a prelim a semi final and an elim final. We never won a flag because our players didn't perform on the day. Get over it son, there's always another year.

I think your mother is calling you to pack up your AFL trading cards that you left scattered along the floor of your bedroom, bet your little bed has a Collingwood quilt cover too ;)

I am praying so badly that if we get a good result, we get mick for another 2 years at least and you can die in pain you prick. You're not a supporter. Hope you rott and choke on your breakfast you parasite.

I open up these threads expecting abuse because thats the only resort of the small minded idiots that need to be told what to think and heaven forbid anyone that questions things that dont work.

I just found another one of those idiots.

This is my first post here, although i have been a member for a while, but from looking at previous reactions to posts it looks like you can get attacked by other posters easily so have always been apprehensive.

But here we go, I will start with the fact that I hate to see Collingwood lose, it puts me in a bad mood for the whole week.

But as far as coaching and the presidency is concerned, i loved it when Mick joined Collingwood and think between he and Eddie they have brought us back from the brink, and now as supporters looking at the list we expect to be a top 4 club, those two played a big role in that.

I do think now though we stick with players who are now passed it or are not going to improve, I think Obree,Johnson,Lockyer and Bryan need to be looked at.

This is our main problem i believe these 4 stand out i think the first 3 have been great for our club in past years and are still serviceable, the 4th only reasonably new but none are going to IMPROVE, would you rather Beams, Sidebottom,Wood and Stanley, in the team in a lose knowing they gained experience and had room for improvement.

But i think Mick definately deserves this year without speculation but if we struggle to make top 6 playing his gameplan, and sticking with players he has a hand in selecting then i think it is time for fresh blood, but i would not have a problem with someone with his knowledge staying on in some sort of advisary role or assistant role.

I don't agree with the people that say he doesn't care about winning becaues he is settled financially, if you were a professional like he is , competitive as he is, you definately want to be better than your rivals. In his case opposition coaches.

So in summary maybe now he is set in his ways but he deserves this year to either disprove or prove it.

Don't worry Fu, I think it is just our very simple friend Col. I actually received an email with a similar tune of abuse as you have the other day.

Unfortunately we have to accept that there are fellow Collingwood supporters who are complete morons, low life scum of the type that reflects badly on the club. The sort of supporter who has dragged the club down into a cess pool of mediocrity for far too long.

My best advice is to just ignore them(him) and don't bother to read or reply. Communicating with fools is wasting our time.

Keep up the posts, they are always interesting to read. I was not 100% sold on your exiting of MM before Saturday, but after falling victim to the zone once again on the weekend, particularly after the 2 disasters v Hawthorn last year and the warnings coming from the Crows during the week, I will join with you and reconstruct the scene from the Academy Award winning film 'Newsweek' - "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it anymore". Seriously how many times can he be outcoached???? Hawthorn and Carlton twice last yearand now Saturday.

So keep up your intelligent assessments and let Col drown in his cess pool of mediocrity.

Good first post:thumbsu:

It toughens you up, good for the soul.

But here we go, I will start with the fact that I hate to see Collingwood lose, it puts me in a bad mood for the whole week.

It gets worse the older you get

But as far as coaching and the presidency is concerned, i loved it when Mick joined Collingwood and think between he and Eddie they have brought us back from the brink, and now as supporters looking at the list we expect to be a top 4 club, those two played a big role in that.

I still remember the day in 1999, I stopped at a newsagent in Warrigal Rd Holmesglen at 4.30am and saw the headline MM was coming to Collingwood, I was rapt

I do think now though we stick with players who are now passed it or are not going to improve, I think Obree,Johnson,Lockyer and Bryan need to be looked at.
Lockyer is still serviceable. I hate to say it, maybe Johnson is no good, Bryan is a dud and dont get me started on O'Bree

Their time will come this year, but the first two are still a few seasons of maturing body wise, to run with the likes of Ablett , Mitchell, Judd and co. They need to be guided thru the next few years. Give them a taste, ease them into it, but dont damage them.

He has got this year. Its never been in doubt. The debate is primarily about his record at the club. Other than N Daniher, I cant think of any other coach that has had 10 years at a club without winning a flag. I cant think of a coach in my time that has had 14 years in the AFL/VFL without winning a flag. I think he is good up unto a point, but doesnt have the capacity to go beyond that. I think we have borne the brunt of his limited list management and recruitment policies. He inherited his list at the Eagles, I dont recall him building a premiership team as such from recruitment stage.

I don't agree with the people that say he doesn't care about winning becaues he is settled financially, if you were a professional like he is , competitive as he is, you definately want to be better than your rivals. In his case opposition coaches.

I dont think its a federal issue. But not mentioning any passion for the club, but to say he could quite easily walk away isnt the sort of thing you want to hear from someone who has profited quite handsomely from the club and still hasnt produced the goods.

So in summary maybe now he is set in his ways but he deserves this year to either disprove or prove it.
It was never in doubt, he has always had this year. Thats not the issue.

MM's position this year is not in doubt and in no way do I propose he be dumped mid season as some have even intimated. That would be pointless and destabilising to a huge degree and possibly quite divisive with the list.

We all knew coming into the season he has limitations, so I wasnt expecting anything less. He will still win enough to get somewhere therabouts come finals and we may even get to the second or third week. But that has been our lot for the last 3 seasons, so it's not exactly inspiring me to know this is probably our fate again this season.

As for Col, DL and a few other empty vessels, I am sure they swap recipes and voodoo dolls. They must self immolate at times with rage, which sort of gives me some perverse joy. Sometimes I cant help feeding the fires tho, dont worry, I sit here chortling away at their fury and indignation.

For those of you wondering why we do not use the corridor and go wide then MM gave the answer on On the Couch last night.

His answer is that our midfield has not been good enough for us to go through the middle. He says that when our midfield is good enough this may change.

There you have it. It seems that we are pinning our hopes on Beams and Sidebottom improving our stocks before things change too much.
