Re: The lets not draft john/jack anthony thread

I know, but if he gets his off field issues sorted, he will be a star of the competition. Big risk could equal big reward! Big risk could also equal no reward, but personally, i think the kid is worth the risk....
Off field issues? Go on....

Yeah agree, just from sources i heard he's a bit of a loose cannon up in W.A. From the packages I've seen on YouTube he is dominant, could tear a game apart, but I wouldn't be putting my money on us using number 12 for him.

Re: The lets not draft john/jack anthony thread

From what I have seen, read and heard he is definitely worth the risk and his so called "off field issues" are no more than the usual teenage shenanigans.

Do you actually know something there, blydog??

Haven't seen it first hand Stretch, just a couple of mates who live up in Perth think he's a wild child. But there is no doubting the quality of ability, I just don't see the club risking it if they are aware of any troubles.

Re: The lets not draft john/jack anthony thread

How so? We do not have players on heavy contracts like Carlton. I would think we are in a better position salary cap wise than both Fremantle and Carlton. If the club wants him they are in a fantastic position to get him in the PSD
Because I believe that Carlton desperately needs a forward so they will offer a lot more than us.
If I were Anthony I would go to Carlton
Reasons:
There are further along the development path
He would not have as much competition for the forward spot
More prestige at Carlton
They will pay more
Add to that I do not believe Bailey wants him at all costs.
If he ends up at Melb fine.
I just don't see it happening

Re: The lets not draft john/jack anthony thread

What makes everyone think Bailey wants Anthony in a big way?
from what I have seen at best he has an interest.
However I still think we will struggle to out bid Carlton.

Pass. He has 2 much luggage and goes missing 2 much in games. Word is he swims against the current sounds a bit like Thorp, but I reckon Thorp has more 2 offer, if he can get his head right. Hope Carlton get him and stop the Coast snapping him up and thereby giving the Woods a compensation pick.

Anthony >>>>> Thorp.

From what I've read, the stuff about Jack is just that he is a weird character, not a complete nob jockey like Thorp. He would be worth a punt on the cheap, is a one dimensional player but anyone who has kicked 50+ in a season is worth a PSD pick, particularly if it comes down a choice between him and Thorp
