What was the general consensus among Spurs fans regarding Sherwood? Seems to have split opinion a bit. I reckon he will get another gig in the top flight (was actually mentioned as a possible Pardew replacement if Cashley sacked him but that looks like it won't be happening).

Is there any talk of who might get the job? I read Pochettino a few days ago (sad if true for Southampton who look like they might be gutted losing key players and possibly, a manager).

I think the fact that some of the biggest anti-AVB supporters were over him says a lot. Generally our sackings have 985 fans questioning why but with Sherwood it made a lot of sense. Levy should have given AVB until the end of the season if the best he could do was replace him with Sherwood.

100% he should have been give more time to bed in the 7 new players. Read a funny thing about the Liverpool game which was his sacking. Despite a win putting us equal with Liverpool at the time AVB learnt of his demise before the game and any less than a win would end his tenure. Hence the all out attack 1 or 2 down with 10 men

I just don't understand this. 13th place isn't too bad and they were never really in serious danger of going down in the run in.

Fans harp on about playing an attractive brand, high tempo football but not many teams in the division have the resources to do so successfully. Sure, his hoofball stuff is rubbish to watch, but it's stood firm in the most competitive and physical league in the world. Don't think i'd prefer pretty looking football over the substance of success and survival at the highest level. Be interested to hear what West Ham's aims were at the start of the season.

I'd say there's probably more con's than pro's with keeping him on.

He's clearly lost around 50% of the overall support of the fans, and that would affect Season Tickets next season if he stayed.

His record in the Transfer Market over the past couple of seasons has been pretty poor to say the least. $15M for Carroll, $6M for Downing, $9M for Jarvis, Alou Diarra on $60K a week etc. Gold and Sullivan want to move the transfer philosophy to signing younger players with re-sale value, and I'm not sure that's achievable under Allardyce when the likes of Matty Taylor get a game every week.

Defensively, he's an excellent coach, with the likes of Reid and Collins playing very well under him, and Noble also. It's the creating chances / hoofing the ball trend, which was worn out it's welcome in East London.

I agree though, if you bring in a Poyet or younger manager, you're going to have to make wholesale changes, especially in the midfield to suit a new style of play.

Don't know what he's done to merit another shot. Did well getting Reading promoted but was shit when they got there. No discernable style or ethos about him.

Speaks well in interviews but I'd see that as a forerunner to relegation if I was a baggie.

No argument for me. I think he's bang average. Just a yes man really. Think a poor man's Pardew.

He claimed that Fat Sam and Nolan were constantly harassing him to join up with their agent.

Morrison was happy with the agent he had. But they kept on at him so he wanted out.
