Tabs needs to be played more, and bugger what the weather is.

He's not the wicked witch of the West Ross, he won't melt into a bloody puddle if he gets wet. Stop screwing with the guy's confidence and give him a decent crack... if you can do it for Clark, you can do it for Matt.

How many times have the words 'Pavlich the target' been said today? And how often has he been surrounded by three Swans? Taberner would've been very useful.
We overcompensated for bad weather that didn't eventuate - extra tall up forward would have sorted a lot of the structural issues.
He MUST play in 2 weeks, we will get destroyed by Lake & Gibson if we don't have the extra tall.
Should have played today. Should have played all season, and should play in 2 weeks' time.
Thank **** we scrapped through. Definitely need a second tall although I can understand why he was withdrawn (cheers BOM, loving all of this rain and hail) Unleash him in 2 weeks (even if he's only a decoy)

I think RTB accepts this per his presser today where he mentioned that we struggled in the second half without Taberner. Mayne was outbodied by Grundy and Pav was double / triple teamed regularly. Taberner (or A.Pearce) must play if only as a decoy as noted but ideally contributing more than just that.

The figures also support that we score more from inside 50's when we play a second tall:-
  • In 6 games, Pav has played in isolation and in half of those games, our conversions from Inside 50's have been below 40%.
  • In the other 16 games, with the addition of Taberner or A.Pearce, only once have our conversions from Inside 50's dropped below 40%.
I am sure there are other competing considerations (like forward pressure) which suffer with the extra tall and resting ruck, but surely beefing up our scoring power must take priority at this point.

Chances are that Taberner and A.Pearce will be competing for a Freo finals spot at Peel tomorrow.

And next week all going well today!

He scored 5 Goals today in a losing Peel side - well done Matt, what a great way to stake your claim! :thumbsu:

And 7 marks with 14 disposals. Don't care if he doesn't kick 3+, he just needs to present as a target and give the defenders something to worry about. They already got Walters, Ballas and Mayne- add Tabs with Griffin as resting ruck. The unpredictability up forward will help Ballas and Walters even more.

I thought Pearce was alright as the sub. We need solid bodies in the middle in the finals, the physicality goes up a notch. Gu out, Tabs in.

Would love him against the crows backline, Talia obviously to Pav which means he would play on Lever with Taberner having more experience could really shine if that happens, sadly he will probably be tasked with Frawley (lake to pav) and gibson roaming and spoiling as 3rd man:(
Hopefully Tabs can really turn it on, 2 goals from him is a big win imo

Mzungu or Pearce would be the favourite to come out of the side. Suban might be the sub after last week's performance.

Zac Clarke the **** out, Big Tabs in and The Golden Fist, Zac Dawson to pinch hit in the ruck when Sando needs a chop out.

I'd be like

Tabs needs a game like he played in Rd. 3....7 Marks, 3 goals.
Does this and we go a long way towards winning.
I think him in is a no-brainer now.....Need the extra height up forward. Likely to kick 1-2 himself, but likely would set up 3-4 by getting the ball on the ground, not to mention enabling Pav to kick a couple by drawing a defender away from him.
I would love to see him start at CHF with Pav at FF. Pav plays better when staying close to the goals and leading up the ground....Tabs is big enough to create space in front of Pav. Clear up the area and we get the attacking Freo back :) We have the mids who are more than capable of hitting Pav on the chest from 50 metres away, if he is given space to lead into. This is what i think we have been lacking in the back half of the season. Going forward has been mostly high entries to a contest, hoping that we get the spilled ball. Tabs leading and creating space opens things up :)
Go Tabs!!

It would be a lot easier for him to have more of these types of games if he wasn't subbed out just after half time in almost every game he has played this year.

Yep. that is a pretty fair comment :)
Even if he is not playing that well, who knows what would happen if he stayed on. Forwards like him are just as likely to turn around a quiet 3 quarters with a blinder in the last if given the chance (and a swift kick up the ass at 3 quarter time ;))!

Yeah totally, I'd be playing Clarke/Griffin in the ruck to start the third quarter giving Sandi extra rest, then sub Clarke/Griffin. The amount of ball we win in the 3rd/4th and have no one to kick too except a triple-teamed Pavlich is frustrating.

One thing he needs to learn is not to block PAVs leading space. He has bad habbit of drawing close to PAV.

Yep. this is true. I think that he should make leads towards the flanks and let Pav lead up straight up the ground. I'd like to see Pav start in the goal square, so that all of his leads are to 30-40 metres out directly in front :)

It's not AFL2014 on PS3. Defenders would be onto this in the first quarter haha. Would be pretty awesome if it worked though.
