Another dig at the Crows today by Port's Advertising guys

It reads
"I hate playing them, I'm not going"
Then underneath
"(19th Man)"

They're almost trying too hard now

The whole Cows' 19th man thing is so stupid because there are 22 players on the team sheet, 21 plus a sub, so surely the mythical 19th man, along with the 20th, 21st and 22nd man, is actually cooling his butt on the pine not sitting in the stands with his crocheted tri-colour rug over his knees sipping Chardy.

But in typical Crow fashion they picked out the most white bread, blonde haired, blue eyed Aryan woman they could possibly find.

Not to mention the gender specific nature of the whole thing. They've tried to rectify this by putting up those "We play better with the 19th man" posters all over town, featuring Van Berlo standing alongside a stern-faced female supporter. But in typical Crow fashion they picked out the most white bread, blonde haired, blue eyed Aryan woman they could possibly find.

They are just showing their supporters at least one parent is white

this has gotten ******* stupid. Triple M has a great chance to kill 5aa for the weekday sports show timeslot but they keep on ******* it up with their shit music. If they only played the occasional song (play some real rock like Lynyrd Skynyrd) and didnt shove ******* Midnight Oil down our throats they would kill 5aa

Yeah I only tune in when I know there's a meltdown imminent so they only two times this year have been this week. Monday night for the Taylor Walker implosion which had me in tears in the car and then yesterday I loaded them up on the net at work and listened to the Crows fans have an absolute shitfit over a bit of banter in an ad lol. But as far as I can tell there has not been one specific plea to your supporters to go, you havent had Keith Thomas, Primus or Cassisi come out and plead for your supporters to show up and make it a hostile crowd.

You're right, there hasn't been a plea for Port supporters to go. The target has been the 1,000's of Crow supporters who specifically choose not to go to Port Showdowns.

Our home crowds, while they're not great, are fairly consistent. If Crow supporters are so loyal, why is it they're not climbing over each other for the 25,000 tickets available to them? For the team "For all South Australians", surely it's a walk in the park for your mob to fill the stadium? You only need half of your usual home crowd to rock up to our Showdown and the place would be packed.......but they won't.....cos it's a Port home game.

Its a bit of fun and a bit of different promoting. I'd much rather both clubs have fun with this sort of thing compared to 5AA pandering to lying ****wits who claim persistent violence at Showdowns and who seem to do what they can to make sure people DONT go to games.

God I hate those ads. Would've been fine if they'd gone with an actual good player like Thompson or Sloane, but seeing that overrated seagull who's made a career out of riding the coattails of his far superior teammates (and even more laughably, actually captaining those teammates. Can you imagine being someone with the football ability Thompson or Sloane and having to listen to Nathan van Berlo telling you what to do?) as the face of a football club makes me want to vomit.

I think it's exactly the kind of banter both clubs need to work together to do to reinvigorate the showdowns if you get what I mean. After years of negative campaigning by 5AA primarily people have been turned off going.

You've said it yourself, your crowds arent great. Surely this is the game your club should be working very hard to get its supporters to. There is nothing stopping you doing what you are doing to entice the Crows supporters to it and pleading to your own supporters at the same time.

Surely none of you guys can be happy with what the club has done to attract Port supporters to the game. Forget about the Crows side of the debate.

We have run ads of this size almost every week - of the generic "come to a crap stadium on sunday night and watch Port play another team no-one cares about" type. Nobody noticed them or spoke about them.
This week's campaign is being given broad coverage across a number of mediums - massive win for the Club (and whichever Agency it uses)!!!!!!

Mock the Crows supporters as no-shows which goads them into going, which by default encourages Port supporters to get along so the same accusation can't be levelled at them.
