PORT Adelaide is bracing itself for a raid from interstate clubs for its superstar youngster Chad Wingard.
And one of the main threats that has flagged its interest in the talented forward is premiership threat Hawthorn, which has a history of attracting the players they want through aggressive trading.
Power football operations chief Peter Rohde took a pragmatic view to the byplay, but said Port was prepared for persistent offers from other clubs.
“We think he’ll be aggressively pursued, there’s no doubt about that,’’ Rohde said.

And, as others have said, he's not out of contract for another two years. Jesper obviously had to fill some space to justify his wage. That spells 'fantasy time' for him.

On this board, it is sarcasm. To the cowvertiser they wouldn't know you are a Port supporter, they will think it is the rantings of a sadly misinformed cow supporter.

I am always amused by the "history back to 1860" that they claim. The Adelaide Football Club was formed in 1860 but only played games internally and the odd game against teams from other suburbs. The first organised league was when they played in the SAFA from 1877-1881 and from 1885-93. This was the precursor of the SANFL but the Adelaide Football Club in fact has no SANFL history. Claiming their history to be from 1860 is even more of a long shot than if a Victorian team called University entered the AFL and claimed their history from 1908 (University played in the VFL from 1908-1918).
