I used to think Chris McDermott was one of the saner non-Port people you could find. But to suggest that Matt Lobbe should make a return from a quad tear at Etihad, when he is probably not even fully fit does not just equal the ramblings of Rowe but exceeds it in stupidity. Sure, the chance of 0-3 looms large and risks sometimes have to be taken. But if Lobbe plays there could be a real chance that he will be out for an extended period. Maybe McDermott thinks it would be better if Lobbe is out before the showdown. The bigger picture to look at is that after our first 5, which we can still squirm out of with a passable result, we have 7 winnable games on the trot. No Lobbe and suddenly that possible 7-0 looks more like 4-3.
We lost to Freo in Perth by a kick without Lobbe - with just a bit more efficiency across the field this week, and we can win without him if necessary.

And apart from ruck supremacy they had Fyfe, Mundy playing a great last quarter, Pearce playing out of his skin, things I cannot se the Roos coming near.

Last time we played the Roos, Ben Jacobs kicked the only goal he would kick for the entirety of 2014 and Monfries pinged a hammy 7 metres from an open goal.

Weird shit happens.

Well this week, let's hope it happens to them for once!!!!!!!!

it generally takes 12 months for the camries to turn on their coach

Not entirely true. The really really old ones still want knuckles kerley back as coach.

It's been a while since i've seen Crows supporters so up and about, not sure whether it's their 2 wins or our 2 losses that has brought upon the greater spring in their step.
Yes they have already started emailing the memes

I just went by the byline, which is fraught with danger these days given the ongoing massacre of sub-editors.
Well if that is all the problem is it is easily fixed. Thanks for your sage advice Rucci. We'll let the boys know.

Rucci must spend the night out with Benny Cousins when he compiles his yearly list of 'top 10 SA footy powerbrokers' and without fail includes McDermott. McDermott has NO relevance in SA footy. Disowned and shunned by the team he once captained, kicked off a crow-themed radio station and writes for a rag that Mrs Porked buys to lay the garden beds with. The fact that he wants to risk an obviously still-injured Lobbe and potentially jeopardise his season with a first grade tear shows that he needs to be wheeled down jetty road to join Wrinkles in the Glenelg retirement village

So hurtful.

So true.

Not really happy as such more along the lines of being content with the current happenings as in the last two weeks the AFC has started my weekend off by delivering the goodies & to back that up some three hours later the PAFC has done the right thing by losing two weeks in a row.

Man U on the rise once more just need the Bays to kick into gear to top it all of.

Lol. Man U

Lollz. The Bays.

How can one person barrack for so many sucky teams?

This post literally brightened up my week.

I'm happy for the Crows to have their premiership in round 5. I'm confident well come up trumps come finals time and end up ahead of them at the end of the major round *and in a showdown final if it comes to that.

Their whole draw really is quite remarkable... If they maintain the quality of their play they'll be right up there come seasons end.

The taxing nature of their style will be the big test.

They'll waltz into finals geelong 2014 style, and promptly moonwalk out when finals football is played

Spot on. Horrible article by McDermott. Rucci was also owned by Bickley last night who made it clear that Rucci's hard work claims were just facile rubbish as we have come to expect from Mr Rucci.

Rucci is stupid. No sense for the game whatsoever.

I heard the exchange as well, Rucci is a stupid stupid man, that has very little understanding of the finer points.
Bickley was 100% right.

One point was funny - Rucci was using the tackling stats to claim Port doesn't work hard enough this year - because it lost the count 76/52 on the weekend, however he brushed off the 73/41 count in our favour the week before.
Right now our issue is more aligned to first hands on the ball (18th in comp for hitout differential) and our turnovers which are putting us on the back foot and impacting our creative run to advantage which clubs are scared of (and may be a result in part of them putting more work into stopping).

Has Rucci yet come out and highlighted that his 11 game membership story the other week was wrong ?
(again - not understanding the finer points, I guess logic and reasoning aren't required traits of journalists)

Look, I understand why the AFL gives the previous year's bottom clubs an easier draw (sort of), but the crows finished just outside the 8 in 2014. In fact, had Sydney beaten Richmond and Gold Coast beaten West Coast in round 23 they'd have finished in the 8. Going by the fixture handed to them this year you'd think they'd collected the last 4 wooden spoons.
One trip to Perth against the weaker of the two Perth teams, Hawks and Freo at home, and they don't play Sydney until Round 18 (At which point we've already played them twice).

In many ways Rucci has been a trailblazer for the modern AFL journalist; getting so warped in their own sense of self-importance that they can no longer distinguish when they write fact and opinion which leads them to believe that FACT is OPINION and their OPINION becomes FACT. Jasper, Robbo, Caro are all prime examples. Just that Rucci has been getting worse over the years
