We should be fresher than them too, long break for us and they’ve been away from home for a long while now. That starts to take a toll. Coming off a derby too.

Yeah they will have a flat game in the next few weeks. Hopefully its against us

They have been up for a month

Suma on fox footy just now. Asked about changes this weekend and said WC should bring in Hutchings as a tagger on Selwood and Dangerfield. Fox host responded by saying "All good but WC are playing Adelaide" ROFLMAO.
Could only manage to get the audio..cheers

If Sean Darcy is named All Australian this season then he can probably pencil in that jacket as long as he is fit for the season for the next eight to ten years pulling the sort of stats he currently does.

I love the AA speculation but tbh Gawn has been consistently excellent all year and pretty much has a mortgage on the spot. All he has to do is not be sh*t for the remainder of the season.
Yep, he's really pushing Grundy out for the second spot at this stage.

Darcy has been immense the last 2 weeks. If he can keep up that form for the remainder of the season that'll be enough to tip the narrative in his favor.

It's important the be in the narrative as you mention. Darcy is getting plenty of praise and recognition for his present form, form that stacks up against the best in the competition.

This kind of media exposure is part of the process of the football media starting to recognize what a talent Darcy is and since the media hacks love to back their brilliance in discovering players on the up they will continue to be enthusiastic about him. As usual many of the media hacks are late to the party.

For a 23 year old ruckman who has played just over 50 games Darcy's trajectory is better than almost any of his peers and he has plenty of upside left in him at this tender age. If he doesn't get AA this year he is a monty to be an AA many times over his career.

Reckon Darcy could put in the greatest 6 week performance for a ruck of all time and not get the gig over Gawn. The AA team doesnt work like that unfortunately.

He's pushing for a bench spot (still would be an awesome achievement)

The selectors will probably work Nic Nat into the team as the second ruck on the basis of the magic "champion data player points" that completely ignore the fact that Nic Nat is too fat slow and old to leave the centre square, leading to instances like Goldstein winning the game for his team on Monday night while Nic Nat was 50 metres away from his direct opponent

Nah, it’s different when you breach the Vic media wall. He’s a red hot chance now if his form continues. He’s probably been spoken about more here in Melbourne in the last 2 weeks than anything Freo combined in the first 16.
The AA selectors are media slaves as much as anyone.

Darcy being AA ruckman at 23 ahead of Max Gawn when the Demons are top 2 would give me the biggest shit eating grin of all time. Put me down as doubtful, but **** me would it be good if it happened

It'd be great, his best chance would be the selectors deciding to include 2 rucks like they've done with Grundy and Gawn a couple times. Or if Gawn's form falls off a cliff.

Its possible Darcy has shown enough as a forward this year for the selectors to put him on the bench as the second ruck

They won’t choose a young ruckman for AA. Doesn’t meet the criteria. The selection panel always does this. Darcy probably needs another season or two to warrant selection

I think he can definitely squeeze on the bench if his form continues, Gawn would have to get injured as far as I'm concerned for him to pinch the top spot.

Given the media around him this year, he can defs make it next year, he wont need two more seasons of this

While Nic Nat's weakness is his low game time to maximise impact, I'm not sure the interpretation that he wasn't working hard enough is the only one for that situation.

There were other tall defenders down there, and if the Kangas had kicked a point they could have booted it long down the middle to Nic Nat and the story might have been quite different.
At the end of the day I don't know if that's what he was doing, but it would have been a roll of the dice worth taking.

I truly enjoyed the Kangas knocking them off though 😊

I get what you're saying and it probably was more the tall defenders' fault than Nic Nat, but with 2 minutes to go and 4 points down you need to have a bit of game awareness so he's not blameless either. Is it worth literally losing the game through Goldstein's mark rather than hoping they kick a point and potentially getting a mark and potentially maybe getting some overlap? The risk vs reward doesn't stack up for mine

It's more symptomatic of Nic Nat's issues this year which have been his liability around the ground. He's a media darling cos of his centre square work but it's so easy for his opponent to have impact around the ground if Nic Nat's not running with him
