I get that it's all going to be for the better good but still find it strange that Nic Nat comes out with an anti-racism video just two days after Eddie Betts has done one. It's almost like it was a Channel 7 idea to give him another headline.

Caught a bit of Chris Connolly on The Front Bar. Actually hilarious, his passion and commitment to Freo was a thing of beauty. Refused to let the AFL or anyone treat us like dirt.

Said Eddie McGuire and Sheedy helped Fremantle quite a bit. Even admitted we didn't have a good relationship with the AFL

Chris Connelly was just what Freo needed at the time he was coach after the disaster of the Damien Dumb era. He was constantly promoting the club and always quotable.

And despite short memories he had a better than 50% winning record as coach.

Oh what I would give to hear someone (anyone) from Freo promote the club with some passion for a change rather than mumbling dribble and scratching their ear.

It was a good interview with Chris and to the TFB’s credit they didn’t just talk about his Melbourne days.

Win/loss percentage as Freo coach:

Lyon - 52.86%
Connolly - 52.80%
Longmuir - 43.24%
Harvey - 40.00%

Connolly holds up well in retrospect

Only meaningful if a coach has had an extended run. Where the coach comes in with respect to the cycling of the list matters. Eg Chris Scott won a premiership in his first year joining a mature and premiership ready squad.

Ross was sitting at 70% at end of 2015.

He dropped 18% in 2nd half of his tenure here

Just one of a number of reasons why I will always have a lot of love and respect in my heart for CC, in spite of what will probably go down as a time when we clearly underachieved. The man went above and beyond to use literally every media outlet available to promote Freo in his time here, after we spent the latter Drum period as the early 00s equivalent of today's Gold Coast Suns. Ross Lyon may have brought us the credibility eventually, but it remains Chris Connolly who first got us some basic respect.

And he is vastly underrated as a coach in my book. Sure, he did preside over a flaky team who didn't stand up to pressure as well as it should have done - but he was an excellent tactitian who knew the opponents very well and could often successfully move the team around to achieve different results on the field, something which the ultra-conservative Lyon and Longmuir have never really displayed.

Footy was alot more fun back in the day with CC. We had some seriously entertaining players. Now we have Crowden, Banfield etc

2006 bothers me more than 2013. We were damn good in that 2006 season and I fully believe we would have beaten the Weags in that GF if we beat Sydney in the Prelim.

Unfortunately I was not old enough to appreciate how great the freo team was from the early 2000s onwards. Farmer, Cook, Bell, Bradley, Modra, Kickett, Haselby, McManus, Waterhouse to name a few. They brought pride to the jumper and a toughness not seen today.

Medhurst kicked 9 against the reigning prems in 04 as well.

Troy cook. We were a seriously entertaining club

2006 doesn't bother me as we had bugger all finals experience: We stood next to no chance of pinching a flag once we ran out of gas and didn't know how to hold on against the run in Adelaide in the QF. What shits me no end 15+ years later is 2004 and 2005 where we missed finals despite constantly beating teams above us on the ladder only to drop easy home games to cellar dwellers. Make finals those 2 years, we probably take 2006.

2013 we were an ill-timed lack of an on ground warm up (or Keplar Bradley not doing his knee earlier in the season) away from a flag. Definitely easier to play the what-if game with that.

Still, I'll never forget ol' Cuddles storming the field during sirengate. Wouldn't cop that crap from the umpires nor the AFL...would love even a 10th of that backbone from our current administration.

Lol, I reckon you’d see a pretty angry ‘administration’ if we were literally robbed of a game due to a siren.

You would think. But based on current evidence what would make you so sure we'd put in the fight necessary to get that overturned.

Common sense?

*sigh*. Dude, if you're not going to play along with the hyperbolic misgivings of a frustrated fan (after one too many tribunal roll-overs) and just sink the showboat then we really need to re-establish just what a footy forum is for then! Of course they'd be livid. A fuss would be kicked.

Not sure you'd see the coach storm the field, president in the press and the constant back and forth of QCs arguing the toss playing out as publicly as it did to give the members that "security theatre" that all that could be done was being done but yes, behind the scenes what could be done would be most likely be done.

Seriously, sometimes you just want your club to stand up for itself publicly and, to actually read the subtext of my posts, that's where my frustrations lie leading to that drive by at the end of a mostly unrelated post

My apologies, please continue the ranting

Na, I'm done. Ranting about the club gets old quickly, much more cathartic to save it for the odd drive-by and move on. This is especially true as I really only post on BigFooty these days during gamedays or after a few drinks so either way I'm not exactly at my most rational :thumbsu:
