Our Richmond game was on the "30 minute thrillers" last night.

I didn't realize it so much at the time but in the cold light of day (and knowing we won) we got absolutely murdered with the whistle in the last 10 minutes.

- Martin goes for a fend off, gets caught, grabs fyfe in a headlock - play on - ball goes forward for a shot.
- McCarthy picks the ball up and is immediately driven into the ground. Gets a handball out but is pinged HTB. Goes into the f50 for a goal.
- Crozier gets a free kick against for nothing in the f50 which would have iced the game

The Crozier free - off the ball late in an MCG cliffhanger - would have attracted A LOT more attention if it'd been against a Melbourne club. We all know it.

I watched that too and noticed the same thing. But also in the cold light of day saw what a monster quarter Dustin Martin put in, he was the reason they got back into it at all.

Watching some Fox shows now, it's great to see the footy world acknowledging the rising star of Alex Pearce. Rated the number 1 defender in the season so far on the Weekend Lowdown.

THE AFL is refusing to say whether its integrity unit interviewed the alleged victim of a Fremantle Dockers sexual harassment complaint.

The woman who made the complaint against the Dockers official has been unable to speak publicly, amid claims she received a compensation payment.

The league said it had closed the investigation but refused to answer questions about whether an alleged payment had interfered with the probe.

The Dockers issued their first statement on the matter yesterday, with chief executive Steve Rosich saying it was a “workplace matter that has been resolved” and it would be inappropriate to comment further to protect the parties’ privacy.

Fremantle coach Ross Lyon said the report had not had an impact on his players, who were valiant but ultimately outclassed yesterday in a 31-point defeat by the Greater Western Sydney Giants.

“It’s not something we spoke about,” Lyon said.

“I’m certainly aware of that (the report) and I’m aware that the club and the AFL have released a statement.

“The whole club will reference that statement and no one’s in a position to comment any further.” Carolyn Worth, manager of the South Eastern Centre Against Sexual Assault, said she was concerned about the way the AFL had handled the matter.

“Payments to keep people quiet are unacceptable,” she said.

“The AFL used to do that but I don’t think getting people to sign a nondisclosure agreement is a good way for your organisation to go.

“It doesn’t go with their corporate image that they are trying to be family friendly.” Ms Worth, who had a meeting with an AFL representative about its respect and responsibility policy two weeks ago, said the league needed to be open about complaints.

“The AFL needs to have transparent processes to deal with complaints about sexual assault and sexual harassment,” she said.

And she questioned whether a nondisclosure agreement would even be legally valid.

The Sunday Herald Sun broke the story of the sexual harassment scandal in December.

At the time, the league said there was a complaint.

But it only said the matter was closed after the Herald Sun published a follow-up story yesterday.

Sounds like the Herald Sun are desperate to give this story legs but have been shut down by all parties, including the supposed victim.

That's certainly one way to look at it. We wouldn't want anyone needlessly slandered over a minor incident.
That said, there are legitimate questions about the use of nondisclosure agreements.

This leaves me with a sick feeling in the guts.

I "hope" it was a minor issue that media parties are trying to blow up.

It does seem unlikely that the AFL would involve itself in any major cover up especially after the inappropriate relationship issues it dealt with within their own organisation. I mean they sacked their own staff and I just can't see them doing anything to protect Fremantle if their was anything like a major issue.

Still its yuck.

Loved what I saw of him early days.

Would no doubt make his way to us through a series of wink wink deals. Some serious back slapping and ‘mission accomplished’ hurrahs would happen.

Then he’d cop an innocuous falcon and be deemed unfit to play AFL again. His brother Andrew would feel we were responsible and ask to be released at the end of his contract. When he demands out we’ll accept a late 2nd rounder.

Andrew will go on to be a decorated AFL player and our 2nd rounder will manage 6-8 AFL games before being delisted after 7 years in the system.

How does the club not rolling out the red carpet for the local media hacks impact my relationship with the club? These are the same self serving dickheads that will run any half baked rumour to fill the vacuum in their "news" slot.

As long as I can go down and watch training and they release the team each week on time I really don't care about the rest. They can run a story on Nic Nat's split ends or maybe give him a weekly gardening segment.
