Interesting graph
It suggests to me Richmond will win the flag (I already suspected that), that St Kilda and the Bulldogs were pretenders as finalists and we are a lot closer to being very good than a lot of people think.
Also tells me we should never have lost to ******* Essendon
Fyfe not being able to see in the last minute killed us.

Grundy, Gawn, Lycett, Nat, obrien, Goldstein, English, and probably a few more not sure he is a top 10 ruck.
>English

Really? He is barley a ruck. More of a warm body to throw in there. His real work is around the ground. Honestly he should really transition to a key forward or backman who chops out in the ruck.

Nah it was the 2-3 push in the backs from Townsend inside 50 the umpires didn't call resulting in goals...

The afl wanted essendon off to a good start.

They don't pay those anymore apparently

...unless your Jack Darling in a ruck contest

Meh if we lose a couple of games watch most people agree with those gradings.

Guys like Cox and Schultz have shown glimpses of being B Grade or better but need to carry it through to next season to make it count. I reckon a few would have rated Matera after last season but a year later he slips to C/D Grade/Delisted. A couple of good games alone doesn’t cut it, longevity counts.

Plenty of guys with plenty to prove next year

In which case Walters not being 'A' grade is ludicrous. Whichever way you cut it, it is a shit analysis.

Any idiot who knows our list even remotely well could produce a list closer to reality to this one. I think for someone who claims they specialise in "list analysis" we should expect it to have some insight.

If we bring in Isaac Smith I will delete my BigFooty account immediately. It is up there with the dumbest things I've heard in recent weeks - and this is a time where the footy trade nutters are all out there in full flight.

I don’t agree with the full list, just that we probably have more C Graders than people think unless they can prove otherwise.

Obviously Walters is A Grade and probably Ryan too since he’s done it for a few years. And yeah those trades suck.

I’ll buy a West Coast membership if any of Issac Smith, Robbie Gray or Ben Brown (as a Hogan replacement) are brought in to the club this trade period

I'd have either of the first two in a heartbeat if they were 6 years younger.

yeah it’s nothing against them as players even if they are starting to get on in age, it’s just the way they completely go against the age demographic we’re going for and there’s next to no reason why they’d want to come to WA anyway

Oh yeah I hope he is senile because otherwise he is just dumb and/or lazy.

AFL and AFL Players Association edging closer to list size and pay deals for 2021
Headshot of Mark Duffield

AFL primary lists look set to settle at 38 for the 2021 season with provision for up to six rookies as the league continues to push through talks with the AFL Players Association in a bid to have deals in place before the grand final.

Industry sources believe that club lists will settle at 38 primary players with four regular rookies and two Next Generation Academy rookies allowed per club.
It is also believed that the AFLPA will score a points victory in pay talks with the league, with the cuts to the Total Player Payments for 2021 unlikely to exceed 10 per cent.

Earlier in the season it had been feared that the TPP could be slashed by as much as 25 to 30 per cent with lists cut back as far as 35 players per club.
The league took out a $600 million line of credit with two banks to keep it and all 18 clubs afloat until the end of the COVID-19 crisis.
In order to limit the extent to which it had to dip into debt the AFL cut about a third off the “soft cap” — or non-player payment spending of club football departments — from about $9.5 million per club per season to $6.2 million for next season, triggering mass redundancies across the league as clubs pruned assistant coaching ranks and support staff.
There had been fears that the league would seek a similar slashing of Total Player Payments which could have led to a saving of $60 to $70 million across the league.

But the AFLPA stood its ground in talks and demanded minimal cuts to player wages. A 10 per cent cut to the TPP would take it from just over $13 million for the 2020 season before the COVID-19 crisis to just under $12 million per club for 2021.

The AFL is hopeful to have new deals finalised within two weeks, or before the October 24 grand final.

Clubs are impatient for the deal to be reached as they try and sign off on contracts before the league’s trading period which is scheduled to begin on November 4.
Complicating the deal for the league is the fact that there is still no certainty on how football will look next year as the coronavirus crisis continues. Victoria remains in lockdown and many clubs believe they will have to budget on crowds of no more than 50 per cent capacity in 2021.

Going in to bat for Buckenara here: I think the point of the "developing" list is that we haven't seen enough exposed form of them to definitively say that they have A or B grade potential.

Don’t bother. If Tucker is B grade then so are Logue, Cox and Hogan. And if Walters and Ryan are AA in the last 2 years then surely they are A grade?

That was exactly the way they used him! But I reckon they’re going to wake up to themselves now. No big man presence was the reason for them being bundled out.

Yeah exactly, I agreed with quite of a few things that Buckanara said and then I saw those suggestions - completely bonkers. We would only look at bringing in players of that age to top up the list in our premiership window, like the Hawks bringing in Lake

I don't get the angst with what Buckenara wrote.
Let him & the other idiots under rate us.
The best bet is to ignore him/them.
We all know his ratings were off.

I agree it’s good when people write us off. Being overrated and hyped up by everyone can make players go a bit soft. Certainly didn’t help the eagles this year. Id hate to go into next season with everyone blowing smoke up our arses about how we are a “lock for finals” etc.

RE: Buckenara article. Hogan has no trade value. He’s not going anywhere. Gary contradicts himself by saying “
“It’s time for Fremantle to stop recruiting cast offs from rival clubs” and then wants to trade in Issac Smith, Robbie Gray & Ben Brown.

Issac Smith & Ben Brown won’t leave Vic and Robbie Gray is a one club man.

Ryan certainly is, Walters slipped a bit this year but will bounce right back to A-grade next year.

Ben Brown would have to be a real option for us i believe. With 3 to 5 years of football left in him, he might be a bargain. Offer him 350k for two years even if it just gets Hogan to pull his finger out.
