In Perthnow:

"The AFL commission announced games will revert back to normal quarter lengths next season.

The COVID-19 pandemic that forced a fixture squeeze resulted in the league reducing quarter lengths to 16 minutes plus time on in 2020.

But quarters will revert back to the normal 20 minutes plus time on in 2021.

Teams will receive six-minute breaks for quarter-time and three-quarter time, while halftime will be 20 minutes.

There will be a break of 50 seconds after each goal."

-IMO, watch Geelong run out of steam in 2021 (and prob WC too) ala us in 2015/6. Elephant in the room this year going to 16 min quarters helped the really old and really young teams (like us) IMO. Plus interchanges have dropped again. Watch Brisbane run rings around them.

I expect the teams with lots of multi positional players to be able to maintain the pressure. Or those who fill their forward line with guys who trained with the midfield and they spend the whole game running very deep into defense to block space and cover for the midfield

They are looking a bit ancient but I think they will have a great season. Interesting that their two highest selections in the draft are former distance athletes.

Kane Cornes: “If I was on the stock market and buying shares in a club, I’d buy shares in Fremantle”

Cornes has said some stupid stuff in the past though so his opinion doesn't mean much to me, however I guess his comments mean he respects JL, the list and where the club is going (a bit Captain Obvious though)

No.

His comments are meant to generate clicks, not explain his true opinions. His job each day is to generate enough controversial statements to allow talk back radio to welcome outraged callers time to vent each afternoon.

He's a genius.

I don’t mind Cornes, so many Adelaide callers go off at him and he’s just laps it up and I hate Adelaide.

lmao what a hopeless obsessive
Yep, the guy's a sad case. He constantly lurks in these forums, fiending for the opportunity to react with a "haha" emoticon to a comment that even minutely slights West Coast.

Well he wasn’t taking it serious... what an understatement.

Some people have the talent but not the desire or work ethic to make it happen.

You need to be able to walk the walk, before you talk the talk!

Team culture seems to be one of the current focus points at Freo and if you aren’t all in.. then you ain’t in, your out!.

Bit early to start the media spin isn’t it? Why would he need to comment if he was staying and the contract extension was a done deal? 🤔🤔🤔

Talk about extra motivation for Carlton to make finals next year. Lose and you also lose your best player and captain.

Trouble is you have a few teams really pushing into the 8 like Melbourne and Saints and GWS, with Freo and GC on their heels, and no teams really ready to drop out except maybe Collingwood. The logjam will make it interesting around the 8th 9th position come finals time (if the Chinese government will still be allowing us to play our foolsball by then).

Unlike a lot all these clubs pushing for the 8 at least Freo are grounded with one of the best defences in the AFL.

Our extremely young midfield can only get better year on year - we could have played Fyfe, Mundy and Walters in the middle all this year and we didn't and were still competitive in most games - that's a great sign.

But quite simply we have (and have had for some time) one of the worst forward lines in the AFL. Everything points to it not just being about the personnel. I wasn't expecting JLo to be able to turn that around in his first season. I'll be expecting to see considerable improvement in 2021 though. In the coming years, if he makes it average then we make the 8. If he makes it above average, we make top 4. If he makes it elite (similar to our defence) then we should start carving a statue in preparation for a maiden premiership :)

Why Fremantle has the third worst attack in the AFL?

Really? How are we not the worst or at the very least the 2nd worst? Fake news.

They're just mad because he rated our def higher than wet toast.
