Richie Benaud was one of the best spinners Australia ever produced, however I cannot actually remember him mentioning his career ever. It was never about him but the game in front of him.

Dennis Commetti was a pretty solid WAFL footballer but unless someone told you or you googled it you wouldn’t know.

Current footy commentators (and some cricket commentators but fewer) have egos that are just painful to listen to. Seeing ‘three time premiership player’, ‘four time All Australian’ or ‘Brownlow medalist’ below a commentator’s name is bs and just makes AFL coverage look like a giant d*ck measuring contest. The brutal truth is that almost no footy fan cares but Channel Seven and Fox are so out of touch they cannot see it.
