We had an issue last year. Hence the salary dump of Hogan and re-signing Mundy extremely late in the piece.

This year Mundy re-signed before the season is out and Cerra offered $750,000 for four years.

Lobb I think is more a case of being open to trade if the right deal presents because his partner has job with Racing Vic but can continue with Freo. The fact that Cerra is gone opens up $750,000. Conca also gone and Wilson will be on a smaller contract.

No salary cap issues for Freo in 2022.
S.Hill as well

Offering huge contracts to McGovern and Yeo, forcing Eagles to match, is some gold class shithousery :tearsofjoy:

I doubt WC paying same as what Freo supposedly offered given their list. Probably says more about Freo that they weren’t enticed to cross the river for millions of dollars.

in hindsight, we are lucky they didn’t take up the offer. They have both been garbage andare trending downwards fast.

no salary cap issue more about list numbers and longer contracts than needed. Reckon we would have kept hogan if someone like giro was out of contract. Wanted two picks before walker and western

not exactly the same amount but the fact that we offered it means Eagles had to offer something enticing so they wouldn't take it.
And it really doesn't say much about Freo, people just don't leave Eagles for Freo and vice versa.

AFL trade news: Suns’ top pick reportedly on trading block
Gold Coast may choose to part ways with their highest selection 👀

The Gold Coast Suns are reportedly considering trading the No. 3 pick at the upcoming national draft in exchange for multiple early selections.
...

With such an even level of talent after that first quartet, a club like the Suns could look to trade down a few spots from No.3 and add another early selection to their overall haul while still being able to select a highly-talented prospect with their trade-down pick.

However, as it stands, Gold Coast will carry picks No. 3, 19 and 22 into this year's trade period.

Yes I am replying to my own comment but I found this very interesting.

We could possibly trade 6 and Lobb for GC's pick 3 and land Horne. Now that's a flipping win. Snuffaluphagus start the damn car!

Nah. The top 4 are a class above and then it evens out and GC know
1 Daicos Collingwood - father son
2 Horne - Kangas - pick 1
3 Darcy - Bulldogs - Father son
4 Callaghan - GWS - pick 2

After that a raffle.Trading up to pick 3 is dumb. Pick 2 a completely different story

There is a phenomenon every trade period where the team that holds pick one confirms that if a suitable offer comes along they will definitely look to trade pick #1 but clearly that never happens.

I wouldn't put it past GC to be playing a bit of "Look at me!" in the media in the same fashion. I'm not convinced they actually want to trade pick #3 anymore.

Why does GC even want multiple early selections.

They have lots of picks, not much space and lots of kids on the list.

It doesnt even make sense
If they don't start showing success very soon, King will go. That's why I think Lobb and 6 would get us 3. However, it probably wouldn't be enough to get us Horne.

Yeah that's fine, they supposedly want multiple PICKS though, which is ridiculous. If they want Lobb, I'd probs be happy with 19 and 22, that's enough overs for me

Considering Norf have already all but admitted they are taking Horne pick 1, I wouldn't have thought it would be enough.

Multiple problems with your suggestion.

It certainly won't get Horne.

It likely won't get Callaghan.

It sits outside the first draft tier.

There is no clear target or reason to trade up. The second tier in the draft is stacked with midfielders, including a couple of locals and non Vic Metro players.

Lobb may not be your favorite player but he is structurally important to us, in exactly the same way as he could be to GCSs. And we we have no replacement for his position

They figure out that the cry baby Vic metro kid are a flight risk with that pick.

Better to downgrade the pick.
