I am pretty emotion after watching JLT and freo first game , but deep down instead of keep changing the squad I pretty confident when the right opputunity time come , balic, grey ,stranica, duman ,Luke Ryan ,nyhuis and deluca will not look back and keep their spot in freo best 22. Patience is needed if people really want to get rid of d.pearce, suban type of players out. Melt all we want, thing will not change until round 5 .

Maybe not all, but certainly some of them I think. Can't see Nyhuis fitting in...

Remind me ,who is Nyhuis's buddy.:) I haven't noticed anyone lauding his prospects.:D
Nightcliff Tigers product so is well known in footy circles up here. May need to have a few beers with some people I know before I head down South.

Is one allowed to express positive appreciation for a melt in a Melt Thread? Yes.

Thank you so much for posting this. I had no idea the club was thinking this. Jeepers, imagine if Tucker, Weller, Blakely, Langdon, Balic, Sunshine all got to play finals together. Makes me laugh just to think of Langdon's beaming face.

I don't for one moment believe we'll play finals. But I'm an incurable pessimist with zero cred
How did Mark Harvey play finals with an even younger group?

When has Ross ever had 'something up his sleeve?'

Remember the back-half of the 2015 season where some of us Big Footy posters were all convinced that the team's poor form was part of some elaborate plan that Ross had cooked up. It took a pretty miserable effort against a severely under-manned Sydney in the QF to convince us that there was no plan and we actually were pretty bad.

I think something to do with having Chris Scott as an assistant probably played a significant part.
That's not the point, how did the club go from starting a rebuild in 2008 to making finals in 2010? Why can't Ross do it?

Partly because a procession of first round draft picks have been shit, and our trade strategy until last year was equally shit. There are other reasons, but this is a significant one.
This year is the litmus test for Ross though, and round one and more importantly his series of press conferences since round one aren't a great start to the year of reckoning

I'm not talking about why we're shit now, I'm wondering why can't we debut a host of young blokes into the teeth of a deep rebuild and turnaround the club as quickly as we did in 2008-2010?

We have a better coach now than then. What's stopping us?

Good question. Round one is a portend rather than an end though. Give it a few rounds and let's see.

I don't have the answer to that, but I'm pretty sure the answer is not Mark Harvey. Our percentage was near even in 2010, which suggests we may have won a few close games that tipped us into the 8. I do remember a revised game plan where we were unleashing a fantastic slingshot that meant we got out the back a lot more than we do now. Maybe I'm selling Harvey short, but he had plenty of time with us and the Lions to prove if he had it.

Back to today, I'm not a fan of delaying debuts. I am seduced by talent, and most other clubs are too. Weller, Blakely and Langdon were made to wait too long IMO. Tucker played well in last years JLT, then banished until the season was over. I expect the same for Logue, Darcy and friends. Doesn't mean I like it.

not all of us. Some of us were screaming for Weller & or Blakely & Langon to be blooded to change up what was a team that seemed to be dying in front of our eyes.
