the flip? Sheridan was one of the few calm and precise players we had today. Stats aren't everything, but 27 disposals at 74% efficiency in a game where we were under immense pressure is pretty damn good.

Agreed, about 20 players I'd be taking aim at first. Lots of marks too which indicates he worked pretty hard to get into space.

I think you are forgetting he is super good at tackling though.

Like super super good at tackling.

lol

The worst part most of his tackles and the teams doesn't even stick. If you're going to play the defensive game plan you need players who can nail the tackle, we don't even have pressure these days

I think Pav getting a suspension might not be such a bad thing. in terms of fast tracking our development.

Pav isn't the problem.

The game plan and the players are.

We can't even transition the ball from the defense to midfield these days.

One thing I didn't miss from last year was how much Pav played for free kicks and was quick to appeal to umpires.

How I wish Josh Simpson had worked out. Exactly what we need. And Crozier to not stagnate. They are two guys we drafted recently with proper kicking skills who should be entrenched in the side.

People are kidding themselves if they think Ross is going to reinvent things this year. It's basically just going to be try and do the same as 2015 and add Bennell and hope Fyfe doesn't get injured. Sounds like an OK plan based on last year's results, but the jig might be up.

Poor skills and poor decision making killed us. Clancee was a total liability with and without the ball. Mzungu wasn't far off. Mayne's set shot range is lamentable. Our spread was non existent, we couldn't get it out of defensive fifty to save ourselves, our forward line is toothless and lacks any spark or even competency. Other than that we were okay.

I'd agree if we had someone other than Jack Hannath to fill the immediate void. Real shame that Apeness is injured right now, I see us replacing Pav with a small/medium forward and playing Mayne at FF. God I hate our forward line.

Exactly.

Ross and the team must have thought Bennell will add 2 goals straight away.

For the "The Youth Aren't Ready Brigade"...

Here are the top 6 stat-getters for Sydney's win over Collingwood yesterday.

Luke Parker (23)
Tom Mitchell (22)
Kieran Jack (28)
Jake Lloyd (22)
Isaac Heeney (19)
George Hewett (20)

They also played Tom Papley (19), Zak Jones (20), Callum Mills (18), and Michael Talia (23)

Of our team that played today, only Sheridan, Taberner and Weller are under 23.

I think Collins is a real chance if Pav does get suspended. Has been really impressive so far.

I think I'd much prefer that to upgrading Smith and playing him forward or any combination of our ruckmen. After today I think Shane Yarran suddenly becomes important, drafted as a plug and play forward and his competition is virtually nil so when he's properly match fit we need him to show something.

Also wholly agree that Crozier's stagnation is really hurting us and it's hard to see him breaking out of the rut any time soon, if ever.

Blessing in disguise surely. The B22 was left too late to top up and fix with youngsters last year.

Surely trial and error time Round 2 and against Gold Coast at home.

Exactly how I view it.

Last year you couldn't really do much with it at what, 10-1 and then on to a minor premiership.

Exposed for a lack of pace, youth and skills, we need to start injecting the 'kids' even if they are not dominating the WAFL.
