lol. Think you'll find that's not quite the case; however, I will admit that I haven't actually asked every Liverpool supporter to confirm that.
The song and the success through the years has contributed, of course.
That's why so many Man Utd supporters jumped on board in the 90's and Chelsea only became popular after 2005 ( lot of ex Utd fans on that bandwagon).

Some of the answers would be actually interesting to see why they go for Liverpool. If you asked me why I follow my team I only have 2 words for you: Mark Schwarzer(my hero in 2006-current)

True.
Me, I was born in Liverpool and my dad was, thankfully, a Red. His family were all bluenoses.

Would have be around the 24- 28 mill mark i would reckon, probably even higher.

Think the 24-28m figure might be overall revenue. Revenue from membership alone is a lot lower. Article on 2014 membership had Collingwood with the highest club membership at 69k and the revenue from membership $10.4m. West Coast's membership was 44k and their revenue was an unbelievable $16m.

Tiger figures were 52.5k membership and $6.3m in revenue in 2014 so applying a similar average of $120 revenue per membership calculation we would be be around $8.7m. Obviously, things like the membership upgrade project and increased reserved seating may have lifted the $120 average.

I reckon Chelsea has always been popular due to the perceived trendiness and the skillfull play of chopper harris

Up 2%, despite the genuine and widespread dissatisfaction. I feel like I'm in some sort of support group with 72,277 others.
mate the rise happened on the back of adding the cream etc

lets see what happens next year before we get carried away.

Collingwood has lots of concession memberships (centrelink) low value the eagles on the other hand can charge what they like due to space constraints at subiaco, they have a waiting list similar to the MCG

Chelsea were always one of those sides that you hoped beat the Leeds, Man Utds, Arsenals, Evertons of the day.
Had some great players in Bonetti, Osgood etc but soft.
Since the Russian gangster and the Portuguese egomaniac took charge they have become hated.

soft underbelly all flair apart from a couple, mind you one of my favourites at the reds was souness if the legs were still attached it was a fair tackle

I'd reckon more than a few members had that familiar, sinking feeling that this year was going to be cream on top of a dog turd. I know I emotionally checked out after the 2015 EF, and then lost all hope of seeing the Tigers even playing good footy, let alone winning, when they re-signed the coach.

But I still bought a membership, along with 72,000 others. I reckon it's a good result for us - the supporters. It shows (yet again) that we are easily the club's best asset.

The number will probably go down next year, but the money in the bank from this year can't be bad for the club
