Thread for the movies buffs amongst the bros :thumbsu:

Feel free to recommend films for other bros (including tittay content) and let us know what you are waiting to see.

Im just about to start watching the girl who played with fire. Didn't mind the first one, but had a bit of a telemovie feel about it.

Movies im looking forward to at the minute are

Takers with my main man idris elba (stringer bell from the wire)

Looks amazing and directed by the phenomenal danny boyle

Scream 4 for the nostalgia

Are we allowed to post where we download torrents and where to get them and so on?

Supposedly the American version is not so bad. Fairly true to the book and not sanitised within an inch of its life.
I wasnt overly wrapped with the original so not to fussed either way.

Did you think the old man was a pedo omit? apparantly in the book he isnt but i got that distinct feel from the movie.

Also the young girl was originally a boy, hence the messed up genitals (so much background narrative the movie cant show)

Looks good.

127 Hours looks good Pezz, a lot of buzz about Franco's performance as well.

Anyone here seen 'Buried' yet? My internet is the balls at the moment so I haven't been able to see much recently, going onto TPG unlimited soon though, can't ****ing wait.

I did watch 'Animal Kingdom' the other night, I really enjoyed it (*don't read on if you haven't seen it*). The guy playing Pope was the obvious stand out, and like most I found the young kid a bit wooden. The majority seem to take issue with its pacing which was personally something I didn't mind as it allowed for some extremely tense moments in the back half of the movie. The lack of action/blood shed made the occasions when it did occur far more powerful I thought, I remember my heart was thrashing a couple of points during the movie (
one when Pope started chasing J and the other when Pope was suffocating the girlfriend
).
I thought it was disappointing that Edgerton was snuffed so early in the film, he was definitely the most likeable and appealing character. They should have got Edgerton to play the cousin who had absolutely no impact on the story, and then obviously ramped up his role a bit. I can't remember that cousins name but he was an absolutely nothing character, got far too much screen time as well for someone that was completely inconsequential to the story.
The scene that took place out at Bendigo was pretty stunning I thought as well, captured the moment perfectly.

Best movie to come out of Australia in a while, that isn't really saying much though (Samson and Deliah was quite good though actually).

I think he was like oskar

top post invig.

No decent copies of buried online yet anyway so dont stress it to much.

What a great film Animal kingdom was. You have a fascinating story with genuine charachters, superbly acted (ben Mendelshon was beyond brilliant and so was Jacki weaver) and scripted while going away from that safe typical lighthearted Aussie fair to offer up a gut wrenching, feirce and deeply disturbing drama.

the scene where pope helps the girl shoot up will stay with me for a very long time. One of the most harrowing and powerful scenes I have ever seen in Australian film.

Highly recommend to anyone who has not seen it

What films coming out are people most anticipating?

You have to love a movie with a twist.

Last three movies I saw were The Expendables, The A Team and Taken.

All three I would watch again. Very good considering I am not a big action movie guy.

Taken was the shit. Favourite recent action movie.

I don't know who you are. I don't know what you want. If you are looking for ransom, I can tell you I don't have money. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you let my daughter go now, that'll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don't, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.
Marko: [after a long pause] Good luck.

Best speech going. Funny thing is he did have money to pay the ransom (wife was loaded) but what kind of movie would that be haha

*spoilers*
I was gonna say in my first post (but I felt a bit homo), I can't remember any scene recently that has had me that invested. I was literally like on the edge of my seat yelling for that cousin to do something... anything! I thought for certain he was going to rape her at some point (it certainly gives that impression early in the film), but didn't see the straight out suffocation coming at all, it shocked the hell out of me.
Like you said, extremely harrowing scene. Felt for the old man who was completely oblivious the next day as well.

It was good to see Guy Pearce take on a role as well, I've always got a lot of respect for actors who don't mind sacrificing their income to do an indie project they actually have faith in.

Just on Guy Pearce; Memento... **** yeah :thumbsu:
