With Melo also ending at Cavs.

D.Wade could pretty easily follow also.

It could be expanded out to something like:
Cavs get: CP3, Mello, D.Wade
Rockets get: Cousins
Pelicans get: Irving
NYK get: Love
Bulls get: T.Thompson, Frye

Picks and inconsequential players could then be moved accordingly to make the salary number work and make each team feel good about the trade. But this could be a rough trade outcome - that the Cavs would certainly go after anyway.

Rockets might not like it, as they want Mello to pair with CP3 and Harden. But if Mello says he doesn't want to join Rockets, that may change, if this kind of possibility comes up.

I'd be looking at a trade of:
To Cavs: Chris Paul
To Rockets: DeMarcus Cousins
To Pelicans: Kyrie Irving
Kyrie wants to be the focal point of the team. He won't get that with AD.

AD doesn't want or need the ball in his hands on offense. For the Pelicans, Kyrie would be the focal point on offense.

That isn't to say AD can't average 25ppg playing alongside Kyrie, but like with Westbrook, Kyrie on the Pelicans would be able to initiate all the offense and be that ultimate decision maker on each offensive possession and decide if he's going to shoot/drive, or whether he's going to pass.

As a backup I'd have thought.

Pelicans have not only Rondo now, but also still have Jrue Holiday.

Kyrie is injury prone. So they probably should move Holiday, or otherwise they'd be moving one or the other to the 2 guard position. Holiday is tallish, so he could always play taller, with a backcourt built for mismatches - as per Phoenix when they had Dragic and Bledsoe in that same back court a few years back.

Holiday is another very injury prone player, so they may find he gets hurt again which would simplify things in a hurry, even if they're all together.

I only just caught up on the Kyrie news been a busy day, I was reading his management have listed his preferred destinations as New York, San Antonio, Miami and Minnesota.

I don't know everything about those teams and what assets and picks etc they can move, but at a guess I'd think 3 of those teams may find it difficult to satisfy CLE.

NYK seems the most likely if it is to come from those 4 suggested.

Kyrie can't pick his destination. 25 year old, coming off careeer best year about to enter his prime. 4 time all star. Known to elevate game during playoffs and is on a very friendly contract for the next few seasons. He is at peak trade value.
I like what Denver and Sacramento can offer in terms of assets.
Gary Harris, Jamal Murray, Faried and a pick
Or
Dearron Fox, couple first rounders and Koufos

For the Cavs, I'd be looking at a trade along the lines of:

Option 1:
Cavs get: Gobert, Faried
Jazz get: Irving, Thompson
Nuggets get: Rubio

Option 2 (possible after August 27):
Cavs get: DeAndre, Beverley with picks and/or young players
Clippers get: Irving, Shumpert

Option 3:
Cavs get: Whiteside, Dragic and picks
Heat get: Irving, Shumpert, Frye

Option 4:
Irving for Lillard

or if LeBron wants his banana boat crew to come to Cleveland:
Option 5:
CP3 to Cleveland with Irving going somewhere with an unknown piece joining Houston in a three way exchange.
eg.
Clevs get: CP3
Pelicans get: Irving
Rockets get: Cousins and Frye

Jazz wouldn't do option 1
Cavs hopefully say no to option 2
I like option 3
I like option 4 but Lillard would have to demand a trade
Would rather just trade kyrie for cousins in option 5
I think Kyrie might be heading off to Phoenix though

As with any of these trades, picks and possible some cheap deal players would need to be included in a trade to make it work for each team.

Regarding Phoenix, there has been talk that they're a team with the assets.

If it's for Devin Booker. Do it. The problem is, they're not moving him, even for Irving it sounds like.

The other pieces for me don't replace the star power or do anything that would come close to satisfying LeBron.

Cleveland would be lucky in talks with Phoenix if they were to accept Booker and Knight for Irving. They're not doing Bledsoe and Booker for Irving. That much is being reported. Given this, I'm not confident they're a team a deal could be done with all that easily.

In trade negotiations though, Booker with Tyson Chandler would be great gets as roster/chemistry fits.

We aren't beating the warriors no matter what we do so I would be fine if they brought in a player like Josh Jackson as part of the trade so we aren't left with nothing when Lebron retires

LeBron is going to LAL if he doesn't think he can win a championship, or so the media speculation suggest.

Warriors need key players hurt to lose to Cavs, but to appease LeBron, you need to have a roster that can at least compete for a championship and be a clear top 2-3 in the NBA quality team, or it's not worth his while.

He's not beating the warriors anywhere. Lakers are garbage.. even with Paul george and Lebron another year older they may not even get past Houston. I rather we do a trade that keeps us atop the East so if Warriors get hurt in finals we can steal another championship but also helps us in the future and that is done with the Bledsoe/Jackson/future pick trade

Why does everyone talk up the Lakers. They have been as bad as my team the last few years.

I'm pretty excited about what's happening at LAL, but I'm not talking playoffs for us this season. I'm more excited about the pieces starting to fall in place for the future thanks to the back and front office stuff having been sorted out.

As an NBA fan in general I'm damn excited to see the Sixers improve. They should be great to watch this season. Man, what a success-starved town Philly has been in pro sports for a long time. I mean apart from the Phillies in '08, it's been a long time between drinks...

Luke Walton as coach is excellent. After Pop, I'm not sure there is a better coach.

The other factor is players have expressed desires next offseason to sign with Lakers. Paul George and Russell Westbrook have both been rumoured. LeBron also more recently.
