Started watching the "Bobby Kennedy For President" series last night. After reading Bad Blood (all about the fractured relationship between Bobby and LBJ, particularly after JFK was killed), watching the first episode of this gave a whole new lens to the story. I'm trying to give my wife a chance to watch the first episode, but I've got a feeling I'll end up finishing them all before she's even started.

Finding it hard to find anything I like atm.

Devil next door whats it like?

Tried watching Peaky Blinders into the 2nd season just hasn't really hooked me.

The “Devil next door” was very hard to watch..a lot of brutal stories from survivors. Thought it was a decent doco

This is one of the best doccos I've seen on Netflix.

The people lining the train tracks for mile after mile as the train carrying his coffin goes back to where he is going to be buried.....like if you cry every time

Having completed my viewing of The Vietnam War I'd have to say it's an absolute must-watch for anyone even vaguely interested in twentieth century history.

Just finished The Crown S3 and I got to say the re-castings worked. Was sceptical but Colman, Menzies and HBC definitely pulled it off. And Charles Dance just suited Lord Mountbatten perfectly. The addition of Charles and Anne were great. The actress for Camilla not so much but I like how the series creators are angling for a sympathetic route with the whole Charles/Camilla thing because we all know what happens in the end.

More awards on the horizon and deservedly so, eagerly awaiting S4 when they add Gillian Anderson as Thatcher and tackle the Troubles and assassination of Lord Mountbatten and presumably a massive arc about Charles and Diana.
I'm looking forward to the episode when the Provos do Mountbatten, should be a highlight of season 4.

Ken Burns could do a documentary on grass growing and I'd watch it.

Midnight Diner : Tokyo Stories

A series centered around the lives of ordinary people who visit a a late night diner run by the Master (owner) who offers both simple food ,company and a place for people share and unpack parts of there personal lives to the each other

Very heartwarming and upbeat series

Been watching Travelers.

3 season sci fi show about time travellers who come back to our time, by taking over a host’s body with their consciousness (just before they were about to die anyway) then try to change events to change the course of history.

It’s not awesome or anything but not bad, the premise is interesting and they explore it well.

Watched a true crime doco called Voyeur this weekend.

Really interesting about a self confessed pervert who purchased a hotel in Denver in the late 1960's and rigged it with false vents in the cieling which he used to spy on his customers from the roof cavity every day and night. He witnessed a myriad of things and eventually went to a publisher to tell his story years later that was put into a best selling book after the much respected New Yorker magazine ran a 3 page spread on it.

It was before the digital age so no cameras or recording devices were available at the time but it is really an intriguing true life story and well worth the watch.

I read the original New Yorker article, which was fantastic and now proven to be somewhat fantastical as well, but I didn't realise that at the time. The doco was really interesting and rather than it being about the story of the voyeur hotelier (which is crazy that it could be usurped, as that story alone is wild!), it ends up being a character study of both Foos and Gay Telese himself. Both are absolute characters, sometimes bordering on caricature. But with so much of the story being called out as not true, it kinda undercut the whole doco for me and I'm not sure I really enjoyed it all that much. A truly bizarre roller-coaster either way!

Unbelievable
Assassination of Gianni Versace

Normally just lurk this forum for ideas on what to watch but Unbelievable was very good.

I really liked the Die Hard one and Ghostbusters was ok too, (haven’t seen the other two yet).

I've been watching the Ken Burns Vietnam War doco. Absolutely fascinating stuff, and it turns out I knew much less about that war than I thought i did.
Yep it’s brilliantly put together. Amazing that Nixon should’ve been disqualified from running a couple of days before his successful election for basically illegally interfering with peace talks.

As you say it’s fascinating from start to finish offering perspectives from all parties and a concise insight into how/why events unfolded which served to heighten the point of what a ridiculous waste of life the war was.

It also demonstrated the absolute heroism and bravery of all involved in what was often closely fought and violent battles. People do focus on the illegitimacy of the war and that’s completely understandable but that does need to be considered separately to acknowledging with absolute respect the brave individuals on both sides who sacrificed so much.

Also absolutely unfathomable how the american commander who ordered and observed the massacre of the women, children and babies - and innocent others was able to basically walk free with no punishment.

In between things at the moment, so one of the recommendations was Black Mirror.

I have no idea how, but somehow it decided to start at Season 5, episode 1. That was truly bizarre and somewhat weird and uncomfortable viewing, I am not even sure why I persisted through the whole episode.....who on earth would even think up that storyline.......

For those who may have seen it but need prompting on the specifics, it the episode where college buddies decide to do VR gaming together.....

Ive unsubscribed from watching anymore

You need a Black Mirror antidote of San Junipero

I'd suggest trying more than 1 of an anthology series before giving up on it. Black mirror is brilliant, but has some episodes I didn't enjoy at all.

Have watched the Dirty Dancing (was on the treadmill so didn't want to watch the ones I was most interested in) and Ninja Turtles (the one that grabbed me most) ones of these. Both were enjoyable and well put together. I didn't realise just how much money TMNT toys have made over the last 20 odd years. I know they were HUGE in the mid 90s when I was in primary school, but apparently they still make a shit tonne.
