After reading The Age this morning, I happen to be of the belief that our season will be defined over the next 6 rounds.

Round 10 - West Coast, MCG
Round 11 - Melbourne, MCG
Round 12 - Carlton, MCG

While, on paper, these appear to be easy wins, we have a history of throwing away games we should have won. If we are to be true contenders we must win all these three games.

Round 13 - WB, TD (3rd)
---------------------------- (week off)
Round 14 - Sydney, ANZ (4th)
Round 15 - Adelaide, MCG (5th)

These teams are all just above us, if we win, we move up the ladder, if we lose, the gap widens between us and the top 4. As far as I can see, we need the double chance, regardless of our performance last year. Hopefully the week off between the WB and Sydney game gives us a fitness edge that we need, because what we really want here is 5/6 wins.

Thoughts?

We'll drop the game against the doggies. But i said this during the dream team match, the break will benefit us the most due to our massive pre-season. Going overseas, playing all over the shop, getting Gastro. The break has definately helped us out and i believe we'll push hard after the split round.
If we can win 4 or 5 of the next 6 we'll be in a good spot for top 4.

I agree entirely. Collingwood have a good list and we are well structured but we're not a powerhouse yet. That will come as the team matures but to be a realistic top 4 chance in a very even season (Hawks and Cats being exceptions) we will need to win at least 4 of these games..

The reason I said we weren't a powerhouse is because to win from ouside the top 4 is difficult (although we got close last year) and isn't a realistic model for success. Unless you are clearly the best side, to win 4 straight finals against quality teams is nearly impossible.

P.S. I can see Thomas really breaking out in the next month or so as he appears to be relishing going head to head with qulity mids. He played well on Dal Santo although he was probably just pipped and he followed that up by soundly beating Bartel last week. Thoughts? I reckon leave him there all season to let him learn with only stints in the forward line.

If we are the real deal we should win all of them. In the past few years the dogs have had the wood on us but i think we can turn it around this year. Sydney and the crows we play well against and Melbourne and Carlton we will win.

If we win all six not only will we make top 4 we will be Grand Finalists at the least. Yeah I know we're not supposed to talk ourselves up but what the hell we get canned just as bad by the opo suporters whether we do or not and I don't believe in jinxes either. Win all six and we will be flag favourites. (justifiably)

I am pretty confident of most of those games. Funnily enough I think WC is the biggest danger out of them all, and maybe Melbourne. West coast is a danger because if you have a look at their team, its not that different from last year. I think many of their players have been under-performing but they are still a very good side on paper.

Why is Melbourne a threat? Because they are a threat EVERY year on Queen's birthday. They seem to have it over us and for some reason it's one game in every seaason that you just don't know which Collingwood team is going to turn up.

I thought Pie fans were the dumb ones. This thread has been posted in by a Carlton fan "aploud"ing us, and a West Coast moron telling us we will "loose" to them :D

Yeah it's a funny old game AFL

It's the games against West Coast & Melbourne that are the biggest worry for mine. The Demons always play well cos It's the only crowd they get over 25,000, The Eagles are coming in with good form & the Blues beat us last time and who will stop Fev????

WOW 6 rounds to decide our season. Not really news breaking stuff since thats well over a quarter of the season.
Tell me a team thats not got it all riding on the next 6 rounds?
