Dew won a premiership at Port as a player in 04, Hawks as a player in 08, Swans as an assistant coach in 2012. If he is our senior coach....2016 will be a good year if you know what I mean ;)

Has a job for life if he can jag a flag every four years

Bassett has to be a chance.

Give him the head coach role with a big name senior assistant coach.

He turned Norwood around in 12 months from 8th to a Grand Final and within a kick of the Centrals juggernaut of 2010. In his 4 yrs we finished 2nd, 3rd, 1st, 1st. Bass turned the whole club upside down and had U18s,Reserves and League players playing the same way. In our two premiership years we went 39 wins and 5 losses. Not even Centrals did that.

I know the AFL is a big step up from the SANFL but with quality help Nathan could coach us to a flag in 2 or 3 years.
This. The AFC is in a very vulnerable position at the moment with its players. Sando may have been on his last legs with a lot of the list as reported, but the club hasn't helped in regards to its list management or administration either.

The club is in desperate need of a coach who can connect and unite all of its players, not just the best 22. Anyone who saw Bassett coach at Norwood could see how much his players respected him. He bleeds passion and has the tactical nous to stand up at AFL.

He well and truly stood on his own two feet at Norwood; having not been an assistant for an extended period of time is not a weakness. Be brave Adelaide. If Bass says he's up for it, give him a go.

Jesus with Moses as senior assistant.

If you steal Leigh Tudor I'll be angry (but happy for the guy).

Here's his record as an assistant:

Geelong:
'07 - Premiers
'08 - GF

St Kilda:
'09 - GF
'10 - GF

Sydney:
'11 - SF
'12 - Premiers
'13 - PF

North Melbourne:
'14 - PF*

*so far ;)

I imagine he'll be on your shortlist. He's not a particularly good media performer though, that's his main drawback.

If I never hear our coach talk to the media again I will be very happy.

I think the ROK chats add massive substance to the Dew claims.

I just feel he's the flavour of the month atm like Neeld, Sanderson have been…not actually sure he's the real deal. Maybe, maybe not.

Conversely, i have no doubt Bass can be the real deal…however, there's no denying his inexperience.

Either Bassett with a senior mentor, or the impossible dream of Clarkson with Bassett as his senior understudy would be my preference.

And no I'm not biased,

Yours sincerely,

TheLeftFist8.

That pretty much concedes that Dangerfield, Walker and Sloane won't be the core of our next flag tilt.

If you do that, we may as well trade them and build for 5 years time.

Do you actually know there age? In 5 years there 29
