As much as I'd like to believe we are getting Clarkson and as much as I was thinking the stars were aligning over the last few days I just can't see this happening.
Yesterdays rumblings pretty much made my mind up that we can forget about Clarkson.

The only thing I can think of is that the Clarkson rumor has been put out there intentionally to hide the real target. That really only leaves Longmire as a high profile coach that we would wet ourselves over.....as we are lead to believe by some.
I then think why would Longmire come here with the list he has.

Conclusion, don't think we are any closer than we were last week to really knowing who our coach will be.
We were all happy to believe Clarko would leave a great club and list - why? Money.

Why would Longmire be any different. Maybe he has his price and we will pay it.

It fits with ROK coming here as his assistant. He has Dew groomed as a succession plan. He's won 1, maybe 2 flags.

In many ways there's no difference in the current situations of the 2 coaches, yet we are only ready to accept 1 outcome.

Maybe Clarko has been the perfect smoke screen

Too has dropped hints that it may be someone that has experience but is not currently a head coach. We know that it is highly likely the person is involved in the grand final. I'm having a strong feeling that its Brett ratten as it fits all the clues.not sure how I would feel about that. Hopefully he would have learned alot from clarko

Exactly what I said a few hours ago. I have a strong feeling this is what's going on - and makes sense why the bookies favourite has not received a call from the Crows... Sando certainly received a call when Geelong were in the finals...

I feel the same way but I reckon he is a very strong chance. He is the only person involved in the gf that has been a head coach before and is not currently in that position. My brother in law is a mad blues supporter and was extremely happy when he got the boot.

I reckon it will be Eade as head coach with Bassett as head assistant, with Bassett taking over after two years.

Ticks all the rumour boxes. Most here would be happy with that I'd have thought and there is the possibility that a spike up the ladder would occur from that.

Longmire has always been seen as carrying on Roos' legacy at the Swans. If I were him, the opportunity to forge my own legacy at another club would be tempting.

The paper suggests Brett ratten. What are peoples thoughts. Anyone have any inside knowledge on what went wrong at the blues? I remember hearing players turning on him in the end. Just what we need!

Not a lot actually, I don't think there was any player revolt. He got Carlton up and into the finals in 2009, 2010, 2011 (5th) and the Carlton expected a top 4 finish in 2012 but they subsequently missed the finals with a loss to Gold Coast last minor round game or second last cant remember.

He was then shafted on Carlton's bid to turn navy blue into black and become Collingwood lite by the appointment of Malthouse. I think then main knock on him was lack of defensive pressure but he went to Hawthorn in 2013 and they look ok.

He's not a total spud but not inspiring either.

Oh Jeezuz. I hope like hell it's not Ratten. I'd pee myself laughing every time I thought of the AFC.

Thats the best way to recruit people to your side of town.
I would become a port fan if Rodney Eade has anything to do with this club.

dear god no!!

he'd be a good fit from a point of view that he isn't afraid to give players regular bakes, however i think thats where the positives end

Quick, someone call and ask Sportsbet to place a maximum bet on Longmire, watch him become the $1.50 fav straight after and Jarman will announce him too.. Then the world will become normal again (It is Interesting as he is not actually quoted on Sportsbet odds but they did have Lleyton Hewitt haha, Id rather him than ratten, at least we will fight to the end..)

My understanding it was more the board who wanted immediate results, but they had poor trading and player list at Carlton overall. They had some top end talent, but after that it really did fall away.

He's mentoring Buckley and that's going really well isn't it?

What is people's objection to Ratten. He was clearly doing a much better job at Carlton than people gave him credit for. His assistant role since then I reckon would see him as a fairly rounded candidate.

I personally have had a gutful of seeing good assistant coaches become crap senior coaches. Clearly there is little correlation between successful assistant and premiership quality senior coach. This position must be someone with senior coaching experience.

Interesting Roo only keep referring to Grand Final week. He also rang Jars to tell him what he'd done. If Jars the ******* has ****** this up he should be Ramsgated. He's forced Clarkson to publicly deny the move on national TV and has given him very little wiggle room
Probably doesn't have anything to wiggle out of.
