Sloane is also close to Campo

From everything I can gather, Campo is most likely to stay of the assistants. Our defence was surely our biggest deficiency last year in terms of the lines, yet the most loved assistant on here seems to be Milburn?

There may be a total restructuring of roles anyway.

interesting what they do with our defence

most sides are moving to a asst coach that looks after team defence not just the back 6, we are yet to move down this path

Do you think Rucci was crying while writing that one?

It has a very 'leave Britney alone' feel to it.

But how does a respected journo break a story after its been out all day. The mind boggles.

Meanwhile at Alberton, a Ford Festiva has crashed.

are you kidding me?

no defence in the league would have stood up to the bombardment ours copped at the hand of a one-way midfield and ALL of our regular starters in defence improved dramatically from individual points of view.

No .... definitely not kidding you.

Gee, according to this thread we had a good forward line, good midfield, great ruck and now a good defence?

I'm feeling the same way. Walsh sounds good, but if we're going back to him and the Dasher/Campo/Clarke/Bickley well with him then the club hasn't learnt a damn thing. Needs Walsh, a senior assistant and replacements for Campo and Bickley at a minimum.

Mate they haven't even announced the coach and your already having a go about assistants.
Let them get the main announcement over first and give them a period to put the pieces into place. Rome wasn't built in a day.

Two month ago I was writing in "Trigg needs to resign" posts and look how far we moved in that short period. Who would have believed we would move this quickly and more importantly this decisively.
I'm positive with one aspect of this whole saga...Chapman was told to keep out the way and let change happen.
For years he's sat on his hands and did nothing when crucial decisions needed to be acted upon.
Courageous choices and sound judgements have not be features of his tenure for a long while.

The swiftness and in some ways ruthlessness this change is taking place leads me to believe the club has learnt a thing or two this past year.
Do nothing and wallow in mediocrity or evolve.... thankfully there are some in the club who seem up to the challenge to change.
Whether they succeed is yet to be seen but given the events of these last few weeks your wishes will be granted and more change is differently on the cards.
This is the shake up the club bloody well needed. There is a sense of urgency now and it feels like we are trying to head in the direction of being an accountable and result driven club. That air of complacency and entitlement ( the boys club) is IMO at last being tested.

Excuse me?

Why people even bother reading his stuff still beyond me.
Why the Advertiser still employs him is beyond me. He's become a media joke that's even crossed borders. The media themselves take the piss out of him.

Not sure if Mansell is still there or if its someone else now, but I'd be looking at trying to protect the brand if I were them. Maybe go on a recruitment drive of their own. Maybe try and offload the deadwood too.

no, in my honest opinion it goes like this:

forward line: full of good players in awful structures.
midfield: won the ball well but tackled like wet fish and couldn't hit the side of a barn going forward.
ruck: Jacobs is a gun, but had pretty weak support.
defence: held up the best they could in trying circumstances, contained the best lock-down defender in the league and one of the best rebound players - ultimately, they were let down further up the field.

having said that our first choice players in every category are pretty good, but between Sando, Bicks and Campo the guys forward of centre accomplished very little.

out tackling and skill level in general was very poor across all zones

I hope the club gives Walsh the freedom to select his own staff. If he wants a Campo, OK. If not, he's gone. If he has a couple about the place he wants, then bring them in.

Lets not bring in the guy we think is the best option, then hold him back with assistants that don't have his support or simply aren't up to it.

I'm hardly having a go at them, nor demanding they announce anything now. Just stating my opinion that a complete overhaul of the coaching staff is required and not a Sando out/Walsh in swap.

Just get him to bring Hurn
