UKR soldier wearing a Sonnenrad patch.

My grandfather fought the people who came up with that - Nazis.

Brenton Tarrant had one on his backpack when he murdered dozens of innocent people in Christchurch mosques.

Three days ago plant was definitely going to blow up and be worse than 10 Chernobyls, didn't happen.

That was bullshit UKR propaganda, this is bullshit RUS propaganda.
Probably. I worry that they’re preparing themselves to blame someone else for what they’re planning.

Why would the Russians want to blow up a nuke plant and poison not only a place they want to occupy, but their own country too?

This is probably one of the few bits of unsourced crap that has a hint of plausibility/truth.

My hobby horse of racism rearing its ugly head again.

If we were to bet about which will last longer and be more politically powerful: UKR propaganda vids on social v people getting enraged at the petrol pump, I know which my $$$ is on every time.

I can think of multiple reasons. Do you know for a fact it’s not going to happen?

No I don't. Nor does anyone, I have as much clue as the hack that wrote the original propaganda piece.

I'm genuinely interested in why the Russians would blow up a nuke plant and poison their own country though.

WTF?

Do you have any idea the death and destruction that massed artillery and ground to ground rocket fire produces?

A battery of 6 guns doing one fire for effect of 24 rounds will obliterate the contents of one grid square that is 1000m x 1000m.

If the blast itself doesn't get you, nor the shrapnel, nor the falling trees and rocks and dirt, nor the buildings that fall on your head, nor the exploding vehicles; why you might just live through the experience.

Until the second lot of 24 rounds are fired at the same location.

They are slaughtering people already. They are doing here what they did in Syria and Afghanistan when the same people operated as the USSR.

American and Australian soldiers certainly did in Iraq.

The difference here is that they’re telling their soldiers that they’re freeing
the Ukrainians from genocide but the Ukrainian civilians are taking up arms against the Russian soldiers.

Air strikes are one thing but close combat is another. If the Russians believe the line they’re being fed that these people are actually Russian I question if they’ll have the appetite to continue slaughtering them. And if they do have the appetite, once they defeat the Ukrainian people they’ll have to have their military occupy Ukraine for years, there’ll be terror attacks by local militant groups.

The worst part is I can’t see any good outcome here. Putin won’t pull out because he won’t survive at home. Ukraine doesn’t look like they’re going to surrender, they have the support of the west and nato but not to the point where they’ll put boots on the ground because of mutually assured destruction.

Tbh the cynic in me thinks that Russia getting bogged down in this war would be seen as a positive by the west… as long as people don’t kick up too much of a stink about the price of petrol.

The spectator index is a pretty good page but they do often post unsubstantiated reports. They have a few from this conflict already, like when they reported that Russia fired rockets into Poland which would set off article 5.

I think they just like to be first rather then right.

Hurting their own wouldn't be a first for the pesky Russian leaders. Stalin wasn't a Saint. Vladimir Puttana loves him, wants to emulate him. So it isn't beyond the realms of possibility. Greater good and all I suppose.

When it comes to this shit, listen to the cynic at all times. The people on both sides (all sides really) are operating on the most cynical level you can imagine at all times.

I've got respect for his courage but ... yeah.

I guess it says more about the fact we have **** all actual leaders with courage who are capable of doing all those other things (and frankly I don't want digital citizenship anyway. You can **** it right off.) You know someone is desperately trying to attach what they think is an empty life to something meaningful when they say shit like "Reimagining the idea of living on Earth" about someone who is a leader in a war zone and could be dead at any moment in the future (or even right now and we just haven't heard yet,) in a way that seems oblivious to irony.

Unless she's taking the piss in which case ... well done.
