We're on a course in this world where pretty soon the worst ramifications of our actions won't be geopolitical ones. They'll be basic survival ones. Unless we stop pitting ourselves against each other, and against our planet.

We're wasting very precious time, and we still seem to be for the most part completely blind.

Conceding a power plant willingly to an invading force isn't something I'd expect to be super common

The Americans blow them up at the start of a campaign, along with water and sewerage plants.

It’s an old article but the intention is clear
Will be interesting to see if when this all settles NATO changes their tune on membership and hurries up the process. How long has Ukraine been seeking membership? 20 years off and on?

Not sure. They’ve had a few Russian puppets over the journey that would’ve been against it. I was listening to a podcast that was trying to describe how complex the Ukrainian political system is, and man it is complicated.

But to answer your question, I don’t know the process. They’d probably be worried about corruption for a start.

Yeah, I think the NATO process is a bit more opaque than the EU process.

For EU, neither Ukraine or Georgia are going to get full membership any time soon. They can get ascension status or something like that, and then they have to bring in a raft of economic and political reforms that will take years.

Bit of a random thought, seeing lots images depicting Putin as Hitler and I can’t help but think, “come on Stalin is right there”

Stalin was our guy when it counted though.

Also, very cool when he was young.

Yeah but there’s just that uncomfortable thing where he killed at least 20 million people.

Yep, which makes it difficult to explain why we allied with him.

To beat the Nazis. They were allies till Hitler turned on him and probably cost the Nazis the war. Weird move to be honest.
Reminds me of the quip I heard the other day -

If Putin thinks that Ukraine is part of Russia, that means Russia has just made the classic strategic blunder of invading Russia.

Wait, we're back to six nuclear reactors being exploded and a disaster worse than Chernobyl? Just caught the end of an interview on ABC 24, to be fair there was a lot of "maybes" and "potentially" in those statements.
