Ollie Pope retaining his spot just tells me they are not taking this seriously. He is not a test quality bat. You simply cannot pick a number 3 that's still averaging 35 after 60 odd tests. In 7 tests against Australia he has never reached 50.

And they wonder why they're the laughing stock of test cricket.
I seriously hope that you haven't reverse Dazzler'd him.

If he makes a hundred it'll be your fault and I for one will be very angry.

For real though, I think he has the talent but not the temperament to play the way the coach and captain want him to for sustained lengths of time. (And now watch him build an innings of length and quality)

Behrendorff strikes within his first over.

It was his choice to leave, right?
Sounds like we didn't want to renew him at his age

It is understood that Behrendorff was hopeful of being a one club player in the BBL, having played his entire domestic career in Western Australia since moving from Canberra as a 19-year-old, and is second behind AJ Tye on Scorchers' all-time leading wicket-takers list with 140.

But with Scorchers missing the finals for the first time in five seasons and only the third time in franchise history, the BBL's most successful club had some decisions to make around the future of their list with Behrendorff, Tye and Mitchell Marsh all coming out of contract.

Scorchers decided not to contract any of them among the maximum of 10 players they could lock in prior to the player movement window opening on Tuesday. Scorchers did something similar with their list back in 2019 when they last missed finals with Scorchers' title-winning veterans Shaun Marsh and Nathan Coulter-Nile departing as the squad was regenerated before winning back-to-back titles in 2022 and 2023.

I thought it was a given the Usman would be an inclusion. All the chat coming from McDonald seemed to be geared towards preparring everyone for a selection blunder.
I really hope this prompts Uzzie to call it a day now, there is no place in this team for him any longer, go with grace mate.

Bit dissappointed for Neser- would have played him ahead of Boland for Adelaide and saved Boland for Melbourne on the short turn around but can understand why they have stuck with Scotty.

We just got stronger. What a spectacle this promises to be - all or nothing for the Poms!

Step 1 - Go harder at Bazball
Step 2 - ?
Step 3 - Moral Victory
