Ratten still winless against Clarkson even Knights has had a couple of wins against Clarko he doesn't even coach us anymore.

Clarkson has only lost to Carlton once- in early 2005. Nine straight wins against them since.

While the Carlton-hater in me is glad they've fallen in a heap, the Hawthorn-hater in me is now dreading all Hawks supporters. They will be higher than kites. You know, "the other teams might as well give up now, Collingwood v Hawthorn granny is a dead cert, rah rah rah, you all suck."

Can't think of better revenge for the EF embarrassment than actually breaking Carlton and finding them out for the rest of the competition's benefit, and this in a season where they were meant to not only be top 4 but serious flag contenders.

Anyone who has any sympathy for that skidmark of a football club should reassess their position within the human race.

I have said before that Brett Ratten is one of the few Carlton figures that I like, and I'll say it again.It appears he isn't a good coach, but as a person I like him.

Barring an absolute miracle, though, he's now a dead man walking I would have thought.

In some ways I feel sorry for him, though- most of the players out there tonight just looked like they didn't care.

Took him 10 years with the best resources in the land to build a premiership at Collingwood.

And while the WC premierships were pioneering, just look at the cattle he had to work with.

If you want proof, though, that he can actually coach, he took Footscray to a prelim before it was in vogue, and took a pretty ordinary Collingwood side to two Grand Finals.

Amazing to think that not that long ago, a few of the more delusional Carlton flogs on this site were suggesting only Watson and Hurley would make Carlton's best 22.

Carltons problem, like Melbourne's, is poor list management and recruiting. If you need 30 guys of decent quality on a list and they have an average of 10 years at that level (reality is probably a bit lower) then you need to pick up 3 decent players every year in order to have a good side. Tanking for picks might give you one of those three, but it won't help you with the other two.

Carlton has been knee jerk in this regard for me, and just stupid. You need to build a list from the ground up, not get a few #1s and think you can trade and cover holes.

Still recall all the doomsayers earlier this year stating we'd get done by 10 goals against the Blues... lol.

All you need to do is have a look at their bests over the last 3 years and it always starts with Judd,.... Once Judd had his input nullified by father time or injury or a tagger than Carlton were invariable not much chop.

I'm pretty sure they'd be looking at us and praying how they can get guys like Crameri, Carlisle, Hooker, Hurley, Ryder and hard nuts like Hocking, Howlett, Lonergan, Myers. One list goes to 22 and the other goes to 30.

I wouldn't even say it goes to 22. Armfield, Ellard, McLean etc. are all in that 20-24 range and are pretty shite.
