The one thing that was apparent in the early stages of the Grand Final, was that the elite players or players with GF experience - were clean in their ball handling - Even a Rhys Shaw who can be fumbly was clean all day.

Thought that Goodes and Franklin were awesome in the first quarter - Their ability to hit contests hard and clean ball handling was a sight to see.

And poor Franklin - CHF gets 24 possessions in a GF - Most contested marks in the game - Ans still criticised !

Ouuucch, Call Me Cake.

Every post is worth reading, in fact those entire pages are, but the bold is hilarious.
Still think Cats can win.

Sydney aren't that good. Only impressive when a team isn't on.
We would have smashed them if we kicked straight.

They're not that good.
Really good teams down give up such big leads late in the game two weeks in a row.

Who's laughing now?

Guess I'm just a realist.

I rest my case.
Suck on that naysayers! :p

Learn to read the game and to not to buy into the status quo. :D
yeah, nah

proved wrong

stay denial :p
yeh, nah.

saving face is all i see. :)
overrated team that's been lucky the past two weeks from the opposition having slow starts

not buying it whatsoever

have fun being fed hyped crap and believing it :p
Tsk, tsk, tsk. So gullible.
I'm not trolling, I'm just being realistic, and I have the past two weeks as significant examples. ;)

we'll see how the diddley season/finals pans out, diddley
Everyone who eats up pre-mature hype always does. It's why they're the most neutral-viewed team by these very same people.

Of course, crunch time rears it's ugly head and they get a well deserved reality check.

But they never learn... because, neutral.

Telling it like it is without the sugar coating doesn't make you a lot of friends I guess. :p:cool:

diddley
Fight? I'm slaughtering.

:D
And what's come of it?

Slaughter indeed.
dat eyesight. :thumbsu:

They're all Tony Stark?

All well-oiled too, but makes sense given the demographic.

Interesting that Tippett is being linked with the Swans - Don't rate Tippett but he will be a good fit for the Swans - And he will learn to lead up to the ball carrier.

If Cameron is appointed PA coach... no premiership experience! A friggin' Bulldogs prelim expert? Feh.

Should be going after the likes of Leigh Tudor.

I'm actually looking forward to this appointment. From the candidates that Port had, Leon Cameron was/is a pretty good option. Give him a clever senior assistant and I'll watch with interest.

Yes, I realise the Leigh Tudor comment :p

You need premiership experience! Roos and Pagan are notable exceptions.

Longmire: Premiership assistant and player
Scott: Premiership player
Malthouse: Premiership player
Thompson: Premiership captain
Clarkson: Premiership assistant (basically)
Worsfold: Premiership captain
Roos: Exception
Williams: SANFL premiership player
Matthews: Premiership captain
Sheedy: Premiership player
Pagan: Was at NM in a premiership year. Also WAYNE CAREY.
Blight: Premiership player
Parkin: Premiership captain
Joyce: Premiership assistant

And so on and so forth. You have to go back to the 60s with Kennedy, Hafey, and Jeans pulling it out of their arse without any prior record.

I'd go with the weight of numbers.

I'm not privy to who wants a senior gig and who doesn't (by all reports the likes of Caracella are more than happy to continue being an assistant).

Wouldn't touch Burns with a barge pole.

Hinkley perhaps. The Geelong system is a very good one to look at, so if you can plumb those depths well and good. I think now we'll also get people poaching from Sydney's panel.

Reckon that Sumich might have been worth looking at, but for the fact that he's only been at Fremantle a year.

Actually, in all seriousness I had been hoping that it'd be Bickley just for the lawls.

Some footballers have losing genetically wired into them.

I call it the Rene Kink gene. Buckley wisely hitched his wagon to the 2010 train.

Or is it just easier to get a job if you've been an assistant in a premiership winning team?

Well, yes, but isn't that the same argument? If you're an assistant in a premiership winning team that's a pretty significant string to the bow.

I'm not sure it's actually the experience of winning a premiership that matters though, although I guess you could use it as an overarching phrase to apply to everything that does matter.

I think it's probably just more likely that those coaches who are part of a team that wins the premiership had the abilites that garnered the attention of those seeking good assistants.

You just had to bring that up, did you? :(

I knew it would happen, you made the thread start off from there on purpose... If Sydney didn't win the damn flag, no one would have said anything. Now that's eyesight!

But yeah. I was kidding anyway. I knew Sydney were good enough, I was just trolling.

Yeah...

Anyway, WE GODDARD NOW.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D
