I read something interesting about scams a while ago. Basically put forward that the reason most scams are Nigerian Prince level obvious is because they're trying to filter out people smart enough to figure its a scam because those people waste their time.

Always ignore anti-virus pop-ups, regardless of what site you're visiting. They are 100% always scams.
